Need help with data download

I am working out on a treadmill set to a 15% twice a day.

I started "exercise" every time I worked out.

Today, I logged on to the FitBit website and downloaded the data in Chrome

This is absolutely worthless! Just the most basic info (and most of it sounds wrong).

I was told before I boughtn the Ionic that I can track the heart rate minute by minute for all my workouts and download that information. I started and stopped "exercise ... walking" every time I worked out. But the data is not included in the downloaded csv file

Did FitBit sales just plain lie to me or how do I download total HR, minute by minute HR, max HR, min HR, and average HR for each treadmill workout?

Further, how do I get FitBit to adjust for the fact that I am just walking during my 60 minute workouts but that I am working uphill at a 15% slope at a speed of 4.8 miles and burning 900 calories per hour?

I am shocked that this expensive device doesn't seem well designed. Not thought through!

It's great to see you on the Community @sysedit212. Let me help you out the downloading data. In order to get this, you will need to export it to a Training Center XML (TCX) file as this will display GPS information as activities and track heart rate, calories and other data. You can upload TCX files to applications including Strava and Google Earth.

To do so:

  1. From your fitbit.com dashboard, click Log > Activities, or go directly to https://www.fitbit.com/activities.
  2. In your Activity History, find the activity with GPS data that you want to export and click the View Details button.
  3. Click the three dots and choose Export as TCX file. The file is in your Downloads folder.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Silvia,
thanks for your help but that's exactly what I have been doing. The problem
is that the file is EMPTY ... no data.
The detailed heart rate is available under
Fitbit.com> Dashbord > Activities > (select oneworkout) Details
The data is presented on a screen as a chart, i.e. the data was definitely
properly collected
when I click on the three horizontal dots above the chart, I have two
options:
export as TCX file
delete workout
When I export and download the file, I use a free software "TCX Converter"
to look at the field and export the file
The file comes back as "empty"
I tried uploading the same file to "Strava." Same result: I got an error
message that the file is empty.
The question is therefore: why is the TCX file downloaded from FitBit.com
empty although the chart shows clearly that you havethe data?

I am wondering whether part of the problem is how I record and track the
workout.
My first problem is that an old Fitbit device that I returned in 2012 is
still listed on my account in addition to the Ionic. There is no way to
delete the old device. I have emailed FitBit Tech Support and asked them
why I can't delete the old device the usual way but haven't gotten a
response.

when I record a workout I do the following:
I start recording on my Ionic watch under "exercise" and then "treadmill"
then I take my phone, open the Fitbit app and go to track exercise and
start a GPS exercise (otherwise one can not get minute-by-minute heart rate)
after I am finished, i stop and close the app
then I stop and close the watch

Any help is highly appreciated!
Kris

Hey,

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? I have the exact same issue 2 years later. It's very frustrating isn't it?! Does fitbit just not know the function isn't working or are they just don't want it to work for some reason?
