New Ionic - multiple issues

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I bought a new ionic two days ago and was excited to start using but have had endless issues which I can't seem to resolve.

It took me 4 hours to complete the firmware upgrade, with almost 4 retries, this is now finally complete.

WiFi connection seems to be almost impossible. Even when I am standing next to the router and my phone is next to the watch and the phone has perfect WiFi.

Syncing is simply a nightmare. The device refuses to sync. I have followed all the steps in the troubleshooting guide for ionic + android but the result is the same. It will very occasionally sync but not on demand or when expected.

I did not get sleep stages for last 2 night's sleep and the advice suggest wearing the watch tighter which is just not possible without cutting off the blood supply to my hand!

I went for a cycle and it took almost 5 minutes to pickup a GPS signal and then it lost it when I stopped at some traffic lights. Likewise the heart rate monitor seemed like it was not picking up my heart rate accurately.

Choosing different clock faces is as frustrating as syncing. It will work when it feels like it but majority of the time I just receive a constant error.

All in all I am pretty disappointed with this device. Is this really what I should expect from this watch or is this a faulty one?

Really hope someone here can help.

1.) Wifi: This seems to be a common issue, I can't even get mine to consistently stay connected to Wifi.  However, you should not have to literally stand next to the router to connect, which makes me believe your device may be faulty.  You may want to consider contacting Support about this.

2.) Syncing: Again, this is a very well-known issue, and it seems to be widespread among other trackers.  The only thing that has worked for me is to switch syncing devices, so you may want to give that a try if you can.

3.) Sleep Stages: There are several things you could do here other than tightening the band (which you already did).  For the app, do NOT select "Start Sleep Now"...this is only for trackers that are not wrist-worn.  For the band, you could try loosening it rather than tightening it.  For the device itself, check the battery level: if the battery is critically low, you will only get basic Sleep Graphs.  Cleaning the contacts may help too, as well as restarting the tracker.

4.) As for the GPS, again, I have never had this issue (not in any way, shape, or form, am I a runner or biker), so you may need to contact Support about this.

5.) As for the Clock faces, I've never had this issue, and it may be connected to your issue with the Wifi, since that's what the Ionic uses to change clock faces.  Again, it may be worth contacting Support about this as well.

Overall, it seems like you may have a faulty tracker, and Support may be able to replace it.

Hi Kristen,

Thanks so much for replying.

For the sleep thing I am letting it auto detect Vs selecting to start now. On night 1 the strap was comfortable, night 2 the strap was tight, I will try looser tonight & cleaning the contacts (although it's virtually brand new).

Any idea how to contact support? I have emailed them but nothing yet.
