I was wondering if anyone heard anything about their local stores having the Ionic available on October 1st? I saw on twitter someone asking if it was going to be released in stores on the 1st and the Fitbit twitter account replied, “Some time in October”

My Target has it. They just wouldn’t sell it to me today; they said they aren’t allowed until tomorrow. They only have the charcoal one. If there’s a Target near you, go to their site and select the one you want, then go to product details. There’s a 9 digit number called the DPCI. Use that on the site brickseek.com to check inventory. It’s a backdoor method that’s more accurate than their site (right now the Target site shows them as unavailable in store but through Brickseek I can see that my store actually has 8, which was confirmed by an employee when I went to try to buy it).

If Amazon.com is a judge of anything, here is what I just discovered by checking there. The Burnt Orange is still a "Pre-Order", but the other two are now showing up as available for purchase! So, if you want one fast, I would go to Amazon.com!
Good Luck and happy Stepping!!

Thanks for that awesome tip. I don't plan on getting one until Black Friday, when I predict we'll see it at $250, but I'm going to use that trick.

No problem! I’m going back in the morning to get an Ionic for myself, as well as a Surge for my husband - I saw a $99.98 clearance sticker on it today, but later checked Brickseek which tells me it’s actually marked down to $59.98!
ETA: @datalore, I ran in Kohl’s today to pick up an in-store order and asked the associate if they had them yet, as Kohl’s was where I used to be able to find Fitbit models prior to release dates (Blaze & Charge 2). No luck this time...she said they don’t have them and that they only expect to get a few in here and there until they are on sale for BF. So you may be onto something with your $250 speculation!

I'd like to pick one up in Düsseldorf tomorrow before flying to the UK for a week of hill running and cycling - peak week before my taper down for the Frankfurt Marathon.
Does anyone know if the Ionic will be in stores in Germany tomorrow? I emailed MediaMarkt during the week, but haven't received a response yet. I'd only be able to pop to the store during my mid-morning break.

I went to Target this morning and purchased one. They did not have them on the shelf but looked them up and pulled one from the back.

Yep got one from the back and comparing to my AW3 LTE. One is going back just not sure on which.
Our Target got in 8 of the Smoke Grey ones...

Got mine as well - the lone silver/gray one they had! They also had marked the Surge down even more to $59.98 so I grabbed one to try to convince my husband to upgrade from his One. 😬

Just picked one up at BestBuy. Setting it up now.

I went to Best Buy yesterday and they said that all they knew is that it is on preorder. Looked today and they had it in stock. Ordered it for pickup from a different store and the guy handing it over did a double-take and said "Is this a new fitbit? I didn't know that they even were coming out with a new one." Before picking it up, I looked around their FitBit area and nothing was advertising the new Ionic, Flyers, or Aria 2. Seems like something is missing in the marketing campaign.

Our Target was the same way... no idea about them- Knew they had them and they couldn't place until today and that was it lol
I will say this so far I'm not getting the $300 feel over my AW3LTE- Not impressed with fit/finish and band fitment-
Only buggyness I have experienced was changing watch faces- getting the red X and having to redo the selection. Other than that the Blaze seems to be better overall in the above regards. Or lower the price on this to the $200-250max.

I've had the fenix 3 and 5, Apple watch 2, and vivoactive 3. Plus a bunch of Garmin forerunners. I like the ionic and am happy with build quality. The default band is a bit stiff but comfortable. I agree it should be priced $250 or $275 but feel okay paying $300.

I wouldn't compare the Ionic to the AW3 (with LTE or not). To me, each are aimed at different demographics. One is a fitness watch with SmartWatch apps and the other is a SmartWatch with fitness apps. My wife loves FitBit and tried out the AW2 but ultimately returned it for the Ionic. Her reasoning was lack of battery longevity and no native automatic sleep tracking. To her, the FitBit is superior because of those features.

For sure on battery life and sleep- Fitbit hands down no contest = )
I charge every night regardless of device because I can't sleep with a watch/jewelry on- so both of these "features" aren't on my +/- List.

I went on an Ionic hunt this afternoon and it was at every Target and Best Buy I visited. I’m in Raleigh NC. Still plan to wait for Black Friday, but it’s tough. The watch looks much better in person.

The Ionic was on the shelf in MediaMarkt in Düsseldorf this morning. Charcoal / smoke grey only. Other colours arriving later in the week.
Looking forward to getting set up!

Fit and finish has always been Fitbits weak point. It still wouldn't be a problem for me if they were priced accordingly.
