I am seeing a lot of postings from folks who are exasperated about some of the shortcomings of the Ionic, resulting in product returns. Others are trying to troubleshoot (e.g., syncing problems), and waiting for the next firmware update in hopes that some of the issues will be fixed. I also see others who are quite happy with their Ionic. While there are surely some individual Ionics with defects that affect some but not others, it also seems clear that there are some key features for some people that are "deal-breakers" for them, while those same features are mere annoyances or irrelevant to others. I also see a fair amount of discussion comparing the Ionic with other similar consumer watches, namely the Apple Watch 3, Garmin Vivoactive 3, and Samsung Gear S3, among others. While it's valid discussion and subject to debate, I feel that the Ionic is positioned snugly right between the Garmin and AW3. The Garmin is a great device for the serious athlete/fitness junkie. The AW3 is a great consumer smartwatch. The Ionic offers a good blend of features at the intersection of both of those watches. With that in mind, it would be interesting to see/share our personal rankings of the key features and functions of the Ionic. Assuming the Fitbit moderators are monitoring our conversations, our feedback may also be conveyed to the Ionic product development team for inclusion in future firmware updates, and/or inclusion in a future product (e.g. Ionic 2). That said, I'll seed this discussion thread with my personal prioritized list of all of the features that I can think of. Note that it is assumed that all of the features listed below should be accurate, reliable, and viable, hence the lack of most of those type of adjectives (e.g. "accurate GPS", "reliable syncing", etc...).
Just list your Top 5 or Top 10 if you don't have much time. If I neglected to include a feature you deem important, add it to your list.
