Pool swimming stats

So, new Ionic user here. Switched from a Vivoactive 3 due to badly misread laps.

Happy so far with the Ionic, it recorded everything properly, no missed laps.

I used the Swim workout, pool length was preset at 25m and i just pressed go. Used the pause/resume button later on, it worked fine.

Now onto the stats: only proper stats are time and distance?

Calories shouldn't be displayed since the HR apparently doesn't work under water, so why is it showing? (incorrectly, very low calories burnt count). How about: laps (lenghts), lap times / split times 50/100/200/500m, stroke type & count / lap, SWOLF stats, etc?

The hardware & sensors are there, this is only a 100% software dev job 😉

So, dear developers, am i missing something while setting up my new Ionic or are you still hard at work for next FW release? 🙂

as i can't seem to edit post, i have to reply again.

for some reason, after ending my pool swim went to the locker rooms, showered, etc...this was registered (probably automatically) as "aerobic workout", lol? Bottomline is i see much more stats when i shower after a swim activity, rather than the swimming itself 😄

Also, is there a way to set "pool laps/lenghts" as main activity/exercise goal, instead of steps or floors or whatever? A dark mode for the Fitbit iPhone app would be nice as well, easy to implement....

However for now, main thing i need help with is to figure how can i get the most stats out of indoor pool swimming exercises. I read that if i simply go swimming and use the auto-detect exercise feature, HR will be recorded and probably more stats will show up? How about swimming style, stroke count, lap times, etc? Are they viewable in the dashboard/iphone app or maybe using a 3rd party app (iPhone health or activity?)

I do think the swim tracking is a bit lacking at the moment, especially compared to the Apple Watch. Surprised to see Fitbit overtaken by Apple on fitness tracking (for swimming anyway). There is a swimming app in the ionic appstore, don't know what it is like yet. Sorry I can help anymore with the swimming side, it is one of the main reasons I bought the Ionic, but I have been unable to swim with it yet as my local pool is closed for a six week refurb!

As for the shower, i have noticed that water from the shower hitting the Ionic's screen activates it and it ends up doing all kinds of crazy things, like changing settings and starting workouts etc. Really annoying and easily fixed by adding a screen lock feature- if you think that's a good idea there is a suggestion here that you can add your vote to: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Lock-Touchscreen-to-Clockface/idi-p/716414

The feature to introduce several extra stats in the mobile app is https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Ionic-swim-stroke-tracker/idc-p/2537159#M152262

It is definitely not device related, since the sensors do exist and collect data already.
It just needs to be mined, processed and displayed in a sensible manner and correctly.
