PurePulse stays activated when HR monitor is turned off

For some reason, the green light (purepulse) stays on even after the HR monitor is turned off. This shouldn't be happening. For a moment, I thought it was working properly since the light turned off after I disabled the HR monitor, but the moment I pressed the side button to illuminate the screen, the green light started flashing again. I would very much like to disable this sensor and am concerned that this is not functioning properly. See the section "How do I turn off the LED lights". That article states that the light can be disabled by disabling the heart rate monitor. In my research, I also discovered this post which states the opposite, so I'm both a bit confused and a bit concerned. Having the ability to disable purepulse is important to me, and I hope this is just a temporary bug that will be fixed in a future firmware update. Could a fitbit rep please shed some light on the matter? Thank you.

Hi @SomeGuyWhoRuns,

The light should be disabled when heart rate is turned to off. In some cases, the light does stay on (happened to me).  The fix for this is restarting the Ionic (holding down the bottom + left buttons for 10 seconds). Once the Ionic starts back up, the light will now stay off when intended. Hope this helps.

According to the manual:

"Note that the green LED on the back of Ionic continues to flash even if you turn off Hear Rate tracking. "

I've noticed this behaviour with mine. The Ionic does stop tracking pulse but the green light continues to flash. Maybe it is related to the Fitbit pay security? I mean it has to be able to detect when it has been taken off of the wrist to enable the pin protection, maybe it uses the HR sensor for that.
