So am I reading that I shouldn’t update with the latest firmware?

seems a lot of people really upset

You can read more details about it here. Ionic- Fitbit OS 4.2 Firmware Update (71.6.19) You can check the steps to perform the update and some troubleshooting steps in case that you encounter any issue updating your Ionic.
