I walk door to door for my work. I wear my Ionic on my left (non dominant) arm. I cradle a notebook and tablet in my left arm as I walk the street to each destination therefore rendering my arm fairly motionless. I have noticed that my Ionic is not tracking any of my steps or distance, only my heart rate. Do I need to switch the watch to my dominant arm or start carrying my tablet on the right side, or is there an adjustment that I can make to account for this?
I did some experiments and found that 1) standing still and moving my arm in a back and forth motion (to simulate walking) will result in steps being counted, and 2) walking, both briskly and casually with my arm stationary resulted in no steps being counted. Is there an ankle strap that can be synced to get a more accurate count?
Thank you in advance for comments/advice.... Really want this to work!!

@ibejaybird, if your arm with the Ionic on it is not swinging freely, it will not accurately count your steps. Whatever you can do to free your arm so it swings freely & naturally will greatly improve the step count.

Thank you for replying Larry. I figured that out but am hoping that there is another solution (i.e.-ankle band, etc)
