Re: Fitbit OS 4.1 - Firmware Release (70.7.14)

Not sure if this is the best place to complain about this, or if someone else already expressed these points, but here goes...

  • Since the latest firmware upgrade I can't start workouts with the bottom right button anymore. I have to press the play button on screen.
That's a step backward for 2 reasons: for GPS-related workouts (hiking, biking, etc) I select the workout a bit before actually starting, so the GPS can lock.
    • With the physical button I could blindly start the workout
    • When I'm wearing gloves the play button doesn't work
  • The watch face I use (called 'arc' I think) simply shows time and small icons for steps/hr/calories/stairs/active mins. By a tap on the screen I can scroll between the different stats.
Since the latest firmware upgrade the left back button just turns off the screen, while before it first went back to the normal clock face view and when pressed again then turned off the screen.
Also, when the button is pressed turning off the screen, when I then turn on the screen again (either by gesture or button) it'll still show the latest stat I was looking at. Previously it would show the normal clock face again.
  • Lastly, but less annoying, why can't we uninstall the weather app? I'm not at all interested on having it on my watch...

I'd like to see these things reverted, cause imo the previous behavior was way better!

Freeco, I observed the same change to the Start button. The mealy mouthed support people don't give you a straightforward answer on this, and getting a clear answer is like pulling teeth. I have to infer that this change was intentional, which is very difficult to imagine, not only because it would be stupid and inconsistent with other uses of icons and buttons, but also because the button still works for pause and restart. Anyway, they suggested that I post something on their community forum. I pushed back and said that my issue was not a simple feature request but a bug, and that they should treat my case # as a bug report. They conceded the logic of my point, but still refused and insisted that I should write up something on the community forum. I did that for what good it will do. FYI, my case # is 33541785.

I use the default watch face, but I tested the behavior of my watch based on your posting. I notice the same changed behavior. I had not noticed that before. Why would they actually commit resources to make such a change? Arguably, it's not even an improvement. I feel the same way about the exercise selection interface change. Maybe it's an incidental effect of another change. Either way, it looks like software out of control by an inept development team.

I have also found that since the update I cannot turn my ionic back on again in the usual way. I now have to reset by pressing the left button at the same time as the bottom right. The device then takes around 30mins to find the right time.

Very annoying and makes me wonder what will go wrong next.
