In my opinion, the following problem is not a feature request. It is a bug introduced in firmware release 70.7.14. I request that the bug be fixed as soon as possible. I reported this problem via case. The Fitbit support person for some reason would only suggest that I handle this issue as a suggestion.
Firmware release 70.7.14 contains a change to the interface to start exercises. For some reason, after selecting an exercise, you can no longer use the physical button (lower right) to start the exercise. However, you still can use the button to pause and restart. This makes no sense. In the case of bicycling, for example, tapping the icon is more cumbersome--and I would argue, dangerous--because you have to look at the watch to start, and that can be a bit awkward because your left arm has to remain on the handlebar at an inconvenient angle.
I appreciate the fact that you want to improve your products in firmware updates. I'm sure that new function is appreciated. Redesigned function is a bit iffy. As in the case of exercise selection, I see little or no benefit to the redesigned interface. But you should never remove function as you did with the start button.

I agree. the button was much easier to start an exercise. i missed recording an entire open water race on the weekend as pressing the little arrow on the screen was just too hard while treading water. please restore the button function to start exercise.

Hi RicardoFitbit,
Is there a solution to the physical button not working in exercise?

@RicardoFitbit Ricardo, we've had two firmware updates since the Start button function was removed for exercise starts and the Start button function is still not restored. I would like to know Fitbit's disposition on this issue. I have just learned from a support call that this change was intentional. That's inconceivable in my opinion. I had up to this point assumed it was a bug. Regardless, does Fitbit see this change as a problem or do they see the change as valid and have no intention of restoring the function at this time? For extra credit, I would really like to know the rationale for removing the Start button function in the first place.
Thanks.
