I usually never have auto sync on with my Ionic watch and IPhone. Manly because of the same reason I don’t have many features like notifications or other things like msgs on; I don’t want to waste battery life.
Is there any way to be able to have the watch not checked and waste battery so often trying to sync and say just have it attempt to sync once a day?

Hi @LT4,
Yes there is a way to turn "All Day Sync" off, you can find out more information here.

Hi @LT4,
Thanks for the clarification. With that in mind, there is no way to ask the device to sync the way you would like it to. You have to open the app in order for the device to sync, regardless of whether or not you have "All Day Sync" on or off. You can however, open the app and only turn the Bluetooth on your phone on when you want to sync the device.

Hi @LT4,
The most I can gather from the "All Day Sync" option is it provided better connectivity when syncing and it allows other notifications from your phone to appear on your watch. I only use it when I'm out and about for that reason.
And no, the app doesn't need to be fully open for "All Day Sync". It just needs to be running in the background on your phone with your Bluetooth on.
