Should I upgrade to an Iconic ?

I am onto a second surge, both bands have bubbled and the second unit fell apart completely. I have been offered an upgrade to an Iconic ( or any other device ) by Currys who will discount the price by what I paid for the surge. I really don't know what to do. I like what my surge does to me but the band started to bubble after only a few months. That's why I'm doing some research on the Iconic before I make any  further investment.

What do you guys think ? Are you happy ? Does the Iconic have design faults like the surge ?

I love my Ionic. One of reasons is because i can change the band to different ones when ever i want.

I am very happy with my Ionic.  I have mine since November and was purchased at Best Buy.  I have no issue with mine.  I enjoy my walks with the build in GPS.   I also enjoy swimming with mine.

Very happy about my Ionic as well.

I've owned both the Surge and the Ionic. For me the Ionic is definitely the better device, both in design and functionality.

If you can live without the always on display on the surge in exchange for a beautiful bright colour display that turns on when you raise your wrist. I would say the Ionic is an excellent choice.

If you're a competitive athlete, I'd recommend you be very wary about moving to the Ionic. Even with its bubbled band, years after I purchased it, my Surge remains far more accurate, reliable and easier to use while out running. My loyalty to Fitbit was fierce and I was excited by the release of the Ionic, it seemed a huge leap forward.

Then, road race after race, the ionic would be grossly Innaccurate, like 20% or more, in distance and pace. Yet its GPS recording would be spot-on.

Over the course of months we deconstructed how the Ionic's software measures running stats, look for the 'GPS Innacuracies' thread. Plus I compared the Surge to the Ionic in a separate thread; find it with keywords 'Runners perspective'

however, if you're not competitive and want a good looking device that keeps time and counts steps fairly accurately, the Ionic might be right for you. I will not go into another marathon training season with it as my tracker.

(as further evidence of how much a hassle the Ionic's been, consider that in 3 years of using the Surge I never visited these help forums. Since getting the ionic I've been in them every day. I'd much rather be training or working on my bike)

Ionics are dropping dead left and right to the six-month battery plague and fitbit is getting very creative about weaseling out of the warranties (after putting you through an insufferable support gauntlet). I wouldn't risk it. 6 months is way too little life for a $250 watch.
