Smarter pin security

So I played around with Fitbit Pay and I can see the value in the convenience. And I also get the idea behind the pin security mechanism kicking in each time the watch is taken off.

However, it seems excessive to secure the entire watch just to protect Fitbit Pay. Remember that if the user does not set up Fitbit Pay, the pin code security never activates for any reason (which is fine). I would like to see the pin security feature protect Fitbit Pay and ONLY Fitbit Pay (e.g., each time the user takes the watch off, pin security only activates if Fitbit Pay is used).

I take my Ionic off when I'm in the office because I don't like bumping it into things around my desk, or resting my wrist on the watch band at the keyboard. I also put it back on when I leave my desk for meetings and such, so on an average day my Ionic goes on and off my wrist upwards of a dozen times. You can imagine how annoying it gets having to enter my pin code that often just to use the watch. As a result, I've stopped using Fitbit Pay altogether to avoid the pin security and I would bet I'm not the only one.

There is the option to set it up for Fitbit pay only. At least in the Fitbit App for IPhone.

If you tap on account then on ionic and on that page you scroll all the way down you should find the point device lock and when you tap on that you will have the option to choose Fitbit pay only.  Hope this helps.

Looks like it is different for the Android app. The only thing I have is PIN which lets me enable/disable/change the pin but nothing else. At least it's good to know that this thought occurred to their dev team, even if their Android team is lagging behind. I'll keep Fitbit Pay on the backburners until they catch up.

I use fitbit pay and have the pin disabled.... it only asks me to put my pin in when I want to use fitbit pay, and not I take the watch off
