With Fitbit pushing more adverts about their latest devices on instagram, I thought I'd chime in and ask about offline spotify.
They answered and it seems like they are working on something. This is the most upfront answer I've ever received from the team and hopefully this means we'll get it in the future. Although no time frame has been given.

We really need support for spotify playlist / offline music. This was by far the biggest drawback for Fitbit vs. e.g. Garmin and together with GPS the feature I am missing the most on my Versa 2. Really hope you can add that support in time for Versa 3, so ppl can go for a run without bringing their phones (what does added GPS bring if you still need your phone to play music - I know Pandora and Deezer is supported, but lets be honest, nobody is using those)...

Agree that this would be huge. I've got Spotify Premium and frankly have been looking at used Garmin devices that support Spotify offline. Interestingly when you look at the app rating on Garmin connected apps it has very bad recent ratings. Lots of users saying it isn't working at all.
Translation: Big opportunity for Fitbit to get this right and stick it to the competition.

I do have running mates with a Garmin and it seems to work fine. So its either lazyness or just not ready to put down some money for the integration...

I've had an ionic and spotify for a while and have been waiting for this integration forever! Recently bought a Garmin Venu, have been using it for 4-5 months now and it's been seamless so far with music and podcasts both on spotify. And Garmin was always better at GPS anyway. There's other stuff I like about fitbit so I'd still want to use my ionic, but honestly, NOT CARRYING A PHONE for a run and still being able to listen to your fav playlists is top of the list for me and many others afaik. So really Fitbit, whatever's stopping you from doing this, just figure it out.
