Step counter is way off

I just thought I should let someone know even though I am returning my Fitbit Ionic that the step counter is way off.  I walk 10 normal steps and the Ionic registers 35.  This is not even close.  My little Fitbit Zip is much more accurate.  What is wrong?

Perhaps your unit.

 

Mine counts like 85-90 of every 100 steps, I'm okay with this.

 

Also, take into account that the zip and the ionic use different ways to calculate your steps, so both may differ a bit.

 

Lastly, if it is over counting steps, and you still have it and want to test it, check on your dashboard's ionic settings that the wrist in set to dominand, and you use your ionic on your non dominant hand. This should reduce the step count.
