Hi, I have noticed that on a number of occasions that the number of steps shown on the watch and recorded in the app once a sync has taken place can be as much as 2000 steps out when then looking at the number of steps recorded in a challenge. Why is this? As surely the number of steps taken during a day should be reflected in the exact same manner in a challenge.

@Bottman A warm welcome to the Fitbit Community. Thanks for getting in touch about this.
Below are possible reasons for this issue:
1. Your steps have fully synced to our database but you're not viewing the mobile app dashboard in Live Data Mode. (Live data mode would show the word "connected" under your tracker tile).
2. You manually logged an activity. Steps from manually logged activities do not count toward challenges; only steps recorded by your tracker or MobileTrack are counted toward challenges.
3. You used MobileRun to track GPS data with your app. Only steps recorded by a tracker or MobileTrack are counted toward challenges.
4. All challenge participants are not in the same time zone.
I'll be around if you have any additional questions.

Hi,
Thanks for the response.
I have been connected / paired / synced when viewing what is showing on both the watch and the app, yet still the total steps recorded did not match with those in the challenge.
All activity has been logged when synced to the base station or application on the phone - i never manually log an activity as do not have the need to do so.
All my activities are recorded by the GPS on the device.
All participants are in the same time zone at the time of recording their steps.
Thanks

@Bottman Thanks for getting back. I appreciate that you've reviewed that your steps tracked are from your Fitbit and that you don't have any manually logged activities.
We've received similar reports, and have escalated the issue to our engineering team. While we don't have a timeline for resolution, we will continue to investigate these discrepancies.
Thanks for your patience and understanding. I'll be around if you have any additional questions.
