Steps don't work In stores

My steps do not seem to count when I am in most stores , usually a larger store like Walmart or Kohls, etc. Do I have something set wrong or does it just not really work?

@Ionickb  When you are in these stores, are you pushing a shopping cart with both hands?  All wrist trackers depend on some wrist movement to count steps.

Wrist trackers have a tough time picking up steps with shopping carts, strollers, holding bars on a treadmill, etc.

Not always. One store I was in has a cart that you pull with one hand. I
will try to watch it and see if it counts when i'm not pushing a cart.

@Ionickb  When you were pulling the cart, were you holding the cart with your Fitbit wrist?  Step counting and situations like this seem to get quirky.  I seem to get steps when I walk with my hands in my pockets, yet I seem not to get steps when I walk in my house holding a cup of coffee in my Fitbit wrist.

I feel like it has something to do with my location, being in a big store. I have it on my non-dominant hand, not pulling the cart with it. Also when I'm at work, doesn't always work when I'm in a part of the building further from an outside wall.

Welcome to the Community forums @Ionickb! Thanks for sharing the issue that you have with you're steps not counting while you are at stores. I appreciate all the details you provided they're really helpful. Please note that the location does not interfere with the steps registration, as @LZeeW mentioned the only thing that might make the steps not to register is that you don't move the hand on which you ware the Fitbit at the same time that you walk. Please check the following article: How accurate are Fitbit devices?restart your tracker and do this accuracy test:

1. Put your device on your wrist or put your clip-on device on your hip or torso.

2. Walk 100 steps, making sure to count a step each time one of your feet hits the ground.

3. Pause, then check your device to see your step count.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes! Woman Happy
