On average how many steps equal 1 mile?  My Fitbit says 12,000 steps equals 5 miles. My friends Apple Watch says 12,000 steps equal 6 miles. All things being relatively equal which one is accurate?

I am going to guess and say the Ionic and the Apple Watch are taking stride length into account which would cause a discrepancy in distance per step.
