Suggestion: Clear storage cache each time the App starts

Dear fitbit

Can you please clear storage cache each time the App starts?

In order to avoid Syncing issues, I have to manually go to:

Settings - Apps - Fitbit - Storage - Clear cache

Clearing the cache enables sleep data to show immediately, rather than painfully going through messages like "looking for device" and getting nowhere.

Thank you!

Hi @supamario, welcome to the Community Forums!

I appreciate the information and details that were shared in your post, seems odd that you're experiencing syncing difficulties if you don't clear the cache of the Fitbit app. To better assist you with this, can you please let me know which mobile device you're currently using? Also, when was the first time you experienced this and how many times since then?

If you haven't already done so, I recommend you to check how the syncing procedure works here and see if there's a missing requirement on your Android mobile device that's preventing the syncing procedure to be completed. Also, you can move forward to the troubleshooting steps that are specified on: Why won't my Fitbit device sync? and let me know how it goes.

Also, I recommend you to visit our Ideas Board and participate there with your Clear Cache suggestion.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hi Ricardo

I am using a Fitbit Ionic with the Samsung Galaxy S8.

I have always had issues with Syncing since I purchased the fitbit.   It would usually take 2 to 3 down swipes to update and synch the sleep data.

Now, after the latest Fitbit software update, it would only take 1 swipe to update/synch, but over the last 2 weeks, it would be stuck in "looking for device".

Restarting the Fitbit watch and also restarting the phone worked one time, but not the next time.

My current and only solution to get sleep data:

1. Open Fitbit App - allow it to go "looking for device" - exit App

2. Phone: Settings - Apps - Fitbit - Storage - Clear cache

3. Open Fitbit App - and it shows the sleep data

I tried going straight to step 2 first, but it does not work.  It still displays "looking for device".

Only the 3 steps above work.

Hey!

I have exactly same problem. I see there was no resolution here, was it solved somehow?

I have one plus 5 Android phone.

Hi.

I found that updating the App and my Galaxy S8 phone made it more stable.  However, the app still requires 2 or 3 swipes to fully synch the data from the watch.  So it has improved, but pretty much back to square one with the multiple swipes required to synch.  This has been an issue since the beginning. Likely to be watch hardware related and unfixable.  An annoyance, but the watch still does whats required.

Further, you may need to reset the phone and/or watch from time to time.  To reset the Ionic watch, press the left button and bottom right button at the same time, for a few seconds, until the fitbit logo appears.

Just for the sake of a little more information, this has been an issue for me as well, from day 1, across 2 updates now. I'm on a Galaxy ON5 (yeah, a *really* old phone), and the same for my much better half (her phone is also an Android/Galaxy, but only a few months old, not close to a decade like mine).

You don't *have* to clear the cache, but if you don't, it'll take a few tries to sync, and the sleep data doesn't show up for a while (sometimes over an hour on mine, about half that on Better Half's).

Well, in my case it's showing "No device found" until cache reset.
It's not only breaks sync, but also Alexa connection.
So pretty annoying, whenever you trying to add so e reminder, Alexa is not
connected. It's kids ruins all pprpose of having smart assistant at arm.

Just out of curiosity, as I don't have (and will never have) an Alexabot: is Alexa Bluetooth dependent as well?

It needs fitbit app always to run and have connection to it. So I suppose
yes, it's need Bluetooth always.
