Swim Settings - Unable to set pool length!

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi all,

I've tried my Ionic at the pool which is an Olympic pool -- 50 meters in length ---

I've changed the 'pool length' in the 'swim settings' to 50 meters (both via the Fitbit app on my phone (Android) and on the online dashboard), yet no matter what I do, it keeps reverting back to a default length of 25 meters - rendering all tracking completely off!!!

It is driving me crazy - I've restarted my phone, logged out and logged back in... I'm really looking for suggestions/guidance at this point. It's really frustrating.

I'm all the more disappointed as swimming features on the Ionic is one the the main reasons I got this watch 😞

Thank you for your help 🙂

Cheers!

Dont think I can be much help. I set my poole length months ago when I got my flex 2 and it was easy. But some settings in the app take a bit of repetition to get them to stick, so I'd suggest you try setting the length to 25 and sync the Iconic, restarting your phone and Ionic, then setting to 50 and sync again. If it xoes 'stick' keep repeating until it does.  I know it is tiresome, but it worked for me with my alarm which wouldnt stick (pre Ionic days). Let us know how you go.

Thank you NellyG for getting back to me 🙂

Look, I've been doing this many times, but as soon as I 'sync' the app with the Ionic the app (and consequently the watch) displays 25m again!

If I leave the app with 50m as a setting, the watch 'doesn't get it' (because it is not synched, so my distance/calculations are off as soon as I start swimming as the Ionic expects the length to be 25m!).

So far I've never been able to get the Ionic to 'understand' it should base itself on a 50m distance. At best, I get the app to show 50m as a setting, but that's until I do any form of synching so it is meaningless 😞

Surely, it shouldn't be that hard!

If anyone else has an idea I'd really appreciate your help!

Thanks 🙂

I have the same problem, but it is the units that are the issue.  I've tried since I got my ionic with no  success.  Another poster said that he had been in contact with Fitbit about it and they said there was no fix.

@zvezdochka No it shouldnt be that hard. But no more advice to offer I'm afraid. 🙁

have you tried doing it online instead of through the app?

I never use the app for settings just syncing because I've found there is something quite off about it since they made it look like the apple phone one. I found the old dashboard a lot less buggy!

I agree wholeheartedly.   I have tried many times through the website and through the app.   I just found another way when I am at the start screen for the swimming exercise shortcut, but that didn't stay either.  To be honest, I give up.  I just contacted fitbit for a refund.  I'm done.

This is an ongoing problem that fitbit needs to admit is ACTUALLY a bug and not a setup issue. I've been on support chat twice with different approaches to the setup and each time it switches back to meters from yards. PLEASE FIX

its a real shame the software is letting down a really lovely piece of kit. 😞

I agree.  I just returned from the post office where I shipped mine back.  I was approaching my return window and didn't want to take the chance that the bugs wouldn't be fixed in a timely manner.

One month since the first dated post. I just tested swimming with the ionic today. And yes, the same problem still persist. I thought it was my watch or my app. Rebooted and reinstalled, still the same. Maybe a little better than the original posted problem. I can change to 50m and sync and it is still 50m. But the moment I kill and restart the app, it goes back to 25m. Have not tried to swim again with the resync at 50m to see if it work though.

Yes, I also bought the ionic because of the swim feature. When is fitbit gonna fix this? This is supposed to be a simple software fix, why is the problem still persisting after more than a month?

Great! Just done that - let’s see if it sticks!

Does anyone one know if I can edit the swim I’ve already done? It’s only offering me the option to edit start and finish time.

I went online and went to activities section and you see the swim option. I deleted the workout just done and manually entered the correct info. It updated correctly.  I have a Versa watch, just got it yesterday, and hope that when I change the length, it will be accurate in my next workout. I don’t see where I can save it to the yards I want, as it seems to always go back to default at 25 meters. I’d rather not go to change it every workout, but if I do, I hope it accepts what I just set it to.
