Swim didn’t track?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I swam tonight and started the Swim workout. At the end of my swim I had 60 lengths & 1500 yards. (Well, 1501...not sure how but the Ionic gave me an extra yard near the end of my swim, even though it’s set to 25 yards, but that’s a minor issue.) At the end of a swim, I can never get the timer to stop. I try hitting pause, but that doesn’t work; I try hitting the various buttons, and that doesn’t work. Tonight, in my attempts to stop the timer, somehow I left the Swim screen. After syncing, the ionic didn’t record the swim. How can I record it? And why would it disappear? Thanks!

Just in case you are not stopping your swim correctly, on mine (swim using exercise app) press the bottom right button to pause, press the top right button to finish and then tap the red end box on the screen. Is that what you are doing?  If the Ionic has missed recording your swim for whatever reason, i doubt you will be able to getit back. Your only option is probably to enter it manually in the app.

If the end sequence is not working try restarting your Ionic several times and see if that helps next time you swim

Restart your tracker

Manual Logging
Next time you want to manually log an activity, on your phone go to the fitbit app and tap the exercise tile (the running man). On the screen that comes up tap the stopwatch icon in the top right corner. On the next page start to type in the activity. A drop down list should come up. Select the Activity off the list, fill in the details and hit Log it and you are done!

Thanks you so much for your reply! I appreciate it.

I was able to manually log the swim, though the details are odd. I had to play with the stop/start time to get to the correct # of laps, which was 60. 60 laps in a yard pool should read 1500 yards, but it shows up as a weird number of 1584 yards.

Unfortunately neither tapping on the screen nor using the buttons as described above have worked for me to end swim workouts. I have restarted the device many times along the way since receiving it for Christmas, but not right before a swim. I don’t think that will solve it but I’ll give it a shot next time. I can’t recall if this was always the case since my first swim in Jan., but it’s definitely been this way for the last few months. (Normally I am able to get it to turn off after I’ve left the pool and been in the locker room for several minutes; not ideal, because then I have to remember what time I stopped and edit the exercise details later. This time I was playing with the buttons while still in the pool but managed to get off of the workout screen which seems to have canceled the exercise completely.)

I see that other users of both Ionic and Versa are having this issue but I don’t see any solutions? It’s frustrating...I bought the watch for its ability to track exercise, swimming and steps, and 2 out of 3 things don’t function correctly. (My step count is ridiculously low...it fails to count smaller amounts of steps which add up all day long. There has never been a solution posted for this, either.) We year crickets from the Fitbit team on these issues which should be solved by now.

In your shoes I would contact Support (link in my signature) as it does not seem to be functioning as it should. Swims for me are dead easy with no problem tracking, stopping or starting.
