Swimming in the Ocean

I am still somewhat new to my Fitbit Ionic. I know that it is water proof and you can swim with it on, up to 50 meters I believe, but is that only in regards to pools. Is it safe to swim in the ocean with it on or will the salt water & sand in the ocean water damage it?

Yes, ocean swimming is fine. Fitbit say the Ionic is:

 

"Swimproof in a lake, pool, or ocean (up to 50 meters)"

NB the 50m refers to the maximum depth of water

My concern is that the salt water/sand in the ocean might damage it. I love my Fitbit Ionic, I don't want it damaged. LOL
