Sync issues is it the app?

Like many others I am having sync issues with my ionic to my phone which is a Samsung s8. Both devices fully charged but still pluggd in. Both devices within 2inch of each other.

I have tried the so called solution. I have paired, unpaired, reset, turned blue tooth on and off, activated the watch blue tooth whilst trying to Sync, i have Bluetooth connected to ionic and ionic (classic) in various combinations,I have had phone connected to 100mbps internet and tried 5mbps, I even sacraficed a chicken to Odin whilst dancing naked round a couldron of boil and ruin and nothing nothing at all. It occasionaly syncs but has no continuity last sync apprently was 7 days ago using the all day sync I assume.

On the app top right hand corner is a symbol of blue tooth connctivity it think

((•)) and this is grey flashing but I have seen it go green or blue. Now what do the colours mean and how do I improve the chances of getting them as grey can't be good.

I initially like everyone else thought it was the watch it's self but is the app at fault?

I have up-to-date production software not the developers.

I think it's a great device when it' working but when it' not frankly it's a ghastly 1990s watch. I don't want to go down the route of refunds and all that I want to keep the device.

If a modererator or developer could give me some sort of technical explanation on why this issue is occurring and a solution i would be eternily thankfull and please please please don' start with turn of the Bluetooth or reset the phone I have scoured the ionic and Android pages but nothing works.

Thankyou in advance.

Hi @Alfasentric see my post below yours, I am benching the Ionic for now for my Gear S3.

I too tried everything and it is in my opinion the application / bluetooth tethering on Android, it seems to be some  archaic method involved, even to the point  where you have to activate a legacy bluetooth connection to get on phone music control!!!

On the watch go to bluetooth and enable the legacy pairing, you should see Ionic (classic) appear in BT next to Ionic, go in to the Ionic Classic settings and enable Input, close the FitBit app, go to clue tooth delete Ionic, not the Ionic Classic, relaunch the application and attempt a synch, this on occasion worked for me

I then had to delete Ionic as it would come back but I could synch.

Hi Barry_B. I did see your post actually. It' making me think the same. I have tried your solution too but with no obvious results.

Frankly it' borderline disgraceful this watch cost me nearly half a month' rent and in the current state it' unless it'. Giving me more stress than my ex. I hope fitbit have the minerals to contact me to find a soultion asp if not I'm sending it back and getting a refund. Imagine the consequences of messing up on your job that badly, being fired would be the best outcome. I'l give it a day or so then I'll be making calls. Cheers for the alternative method tho I do appreciate it.

Please keep ideas coming one and all.

@Alfasentric anytime, the other option would seem to be getting an iPhone, but they too seem to have issues with FitBit.

I'm an S8 guy too and have an iPhone for work, the Ionic is not worth changing to an iPhone for lol (not to mention the cost!!!)

If you do get zero luck with FitBit try the Gear S3 or Gear Sport, the S3 is bigger and a bit more bulky, hence I went for the Ionic, the Gear Sport however is slightly smaller than the S3.

Check you Samsung Health on your S8 see if it will be a replacement for the FitBit dashboard, it has its own nice and not so good features too, but it always synchronises. You can use it to monitor your steps without a companion device, just have the phone in your pocket.

**Update** @Alfasentric new firmware out, I just updated my device and it also synchronised! S3 back in the drawer lol

Agreed new update works. Maybe the chicken didn't die in vein after all.
