Syncing difficulties with Ionic

Fitbit, Fitbit, Fitbit. I love your app. I love the community interactions. I love the Ionic itself. Mostly. I’ve had fitbits for years, from the first Charge HR to the Surge and finally, to the Ionic. First Ionic was bought on release. Seven months I put up with syncing issues and the same old unhelpful advice from Fitbit before I finally returned it for a replacement. Yes, Fitbit, I didn’t give up on you. But now, now, I’m struggling. This week two things have happened that have almost totally destroyed my love and faith in all things Fitbit. Firstly, I bought my husband an Ionic for his birthday. He is training for a marathon relay, and it was the one thing he really wanted (bought him a charge II for Christmas which he managed legitimately to murder by continually forgetting to take it off whilst swimming on holiday, and he’d been using my daughter’s Alta in the meantime - see, Fitbit, we want to love you, we all have your products!). Firstly actually getting the sodding thing to connect via Bluetooth was a job and a half, then getting it to connect to WiFi another. And once all that was done, it was like history repeated itself with the syncing issues that plagued me previously. Only worse. The thing managed just one sync and then stubbornly refused to do more than a token millimetre or so of syncing bar. Showed as connected/unconnected. Followed all of Fitbit steps, again. Deja vu. Now the thing won’t even connect via Bluetooth to any device in the house. So that’s going back. Now for mine. I’ve had five blissful trouble free months. The thing has synced as expected. Until today. Today, my display suddenly showed every single thing (steps, calories, stairs and active minutes) as zero. Despite the synced figures remaining, and when it did sync the old figures were still there. Medium battery. So I dutifully held down the left and bottom right buttons. Fitbit died and never resurrected itself. I’ve tried pushing all the buttons, plugging it in to charge, both simultaneously and nada. It appears to have gone to meet its maker. This very expensive piece of kit is less than five months old. This, on top of everything else I’ve experienced, has really put me in a bad humour. Help me out here, Fitbit. What else can I do to resurrect my ailing watch? Is there anything else my husband can try as opposed to returning his faulty gift and not having a replacement in time for his marathon? And why oh why oh why are we having these issues with such a expensive watch?

I've had my Ionic 9 months. Last night it oveheated majorly and burnt my wrist.  Good job I woke up or it would have set fire to the bed it was so hot!  Now nothing, I can get the logo to show but it won't charge or do anything else.  I'm so not happy at the moment.

I loved my iconic but I am on my third one!

#1 worked fine until it wouldn't sync

#2 They sent a brand new replacement in the box and the screen wouldn't work

#3 I've had it three days and it only synced the first day. Fortunately, when I deleted the Fitbit app from my phone and did a hard reset it resurrected. I have my fingers crossed but I have just about had it with Ionic and Fitbit!

Function (when it works) - great

Reliability - in my experience, almost nil

Good luck with yours! I'm hoping the 3rd time's a charm!

Did you purchase the watch directly through Fitbit or did you purchase it through another retailer?  If it's purchased through another retailer, you might want to contact them to see what your options are.  If it was purchased directly through Fitbit, you may want to consider contacting Support to see what options they have.  It seems that you have gone through all the troubleshooting that I can think of, so if you contact Support, they may be able to come up with something that we didn't come up with before.
