Syncing not fixed

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I know they closed the monster thread about problems syncing because they said it was fixed. Anyone still seeing issues? Mine did indeed seem to be fixed over the weekend, but back to having trouble again daily as of Monday. As of now, only way for me to achieve sync is to do a reset of my watch first. This is ridiculous. Have twice chatted with Fitbit customer service who says this is not a known issue. Grrr. Never been so disappointed with a product.

So is this a rant and nothing more?

If you do not give any details no one has any clue how to address your issue. IOS or Android? Number of devices you are paired with? What phone and or other devices are you using? Is it stuck looking or does your blue bar fill but does nothing?

Any description in any bit of detail may help but saying it doesn’t sync I am disappointed really does nothing at all. Will dig up a link of some possible ways to fix because I am headed out and cannot monitor this thread.

Here are a few ideas to possibly get you started while I am out.

My Ionic is also not syncing and I followed all the instructions. Up to date Android. Up to date Fitbit App. Installed the Ionic update when it first started up.

Over the last few days I have lost count of how many times I have uninstalled and re-installed the Fitbit App.

I have to un-pair the Ionic, then re-pair every time I want it to sync.

You bet it's a rant. I paid $299.95 for a device that won't sync. I've had the Flex, Charge, Charge HR, Charge 2, and Blaze and never had a minutes problem with each. For the 14 days I've had the Ionic, I've not been able to sync without a shutdown or reset for all but 3 of those days.

Sync gets about halfway through (blue bar) and then just stops. Gets my steps but doesnt get in my sleep, heart rate, or update my competitions before it stops. I then have to either shutdown or reset and everything syncs with the blue bar all the way to the end, and is good sync wise until the next day.

If it matters I'm using iOS, iPhone 7 Plus, only synced to one Fitbit.

I get something similar using an iPhone 6 sometimes with a weird hang at about 50% sync. It then resets itself but will always go through. Usually this happens on my morning sync so I am a bit groggy I believe I have just been pulling down to force a sync to over come it.

When you say just stops do you mean it freezes or can you still navigate the app?

Either way, I will keep my eye on how mine acts to see if I can recreate something similar to your issue.

Kinda sucks but if you have it happen again best I can recommend is pull down on the app and force a sync and report back here.

Try turning off "all day sync" and "always connected". Works for me on my Google Pixel phone.

FYI "up to date android" means nothing, it's a relative term as phones run different versions of android. Generally best to state the Android version number.

When the sync fails halfway through, the app is still totally navigatable. It's just the sync bonks out. I do try manually pulling it down myself from the top several times, and (like this morning again), that still doesnt work.

This morning I had it get halfway and stop again. Tried and tried several different ways including pulling down from the top. Hard reset of my watch and sync went through like a charm. This is nearly every day, every 24 hours.

Over the weekend when Fitbit said they fixed it and closed the monster thread about it, it worked great for me. Always synced the first time, and acted just like Fitbits I've had in the past. By Monday it was doing this again.

If it matters, I have never and will never have all day sync on.

Still not syncing properly, and I have exhausted all the steps that Fitbit phone support can provide:

  • Uninstall, reinstall app
  • Various permutations of when to turn Bluetooth off/on
  • Un-pair, re-pair Ionic
  • Uninstall again
  • Factory reset
  • Install app, pair device as if it were the first time

Doesn’t matter whether I have All Day Sync and/or Always Connected on/off (Though for an advertised smart watch that is supposed to give text and email notifications, it really should work with those on regardless.)

However, one interesting thing: they told me that it is a known issue that the Ionic doesn’t do well with other Fitbits on the account, so they had me remove my Alta and Zip. After several more hours of the Ionic not syncing, I decided to put the Zip back on the account to get some steps last night.  When I paired the Zip, the Ionic synced. It is not a permanent fix though. The Ionic immediately went back to being unable to sync.

It is a lot easier to un-pair and re-pair the Zip than the Ionic, so that’s now how I can force the Ionic to sync.  This is more of a hack than a solution.

I am getting the same issue with my Charge HR. Just stopped working. Tried removing and reinstalling he app and hardware reset. Only way I can get it working is to repair the device this takes 3-4 attempts then it syncs once then app just says Looking for device. It is most frustrating.
