I got mine for my Birthday on the 3rd, it did an updated when I was setting it up. It sync'd fine until yesterday, last time it sync'd was 9am now it part works. I've removed the dongle thing, I've removed the software, I've unpaired, the wifi won't connect but I've not tried removing the device totally from the application yet as I'd rather not loose my data.

What dongle thing?

Duh, I'm a dumb a**. I just pulled that out it was for my Surge (I had 2 because the strap kept falling apart).
Ok, so now! I've removed the device from my phone Bluetooth and from the app, set everything back up again. It connects fine to WiFi and Bluetooth, however, after the first sync it won't sync again. I can connect it via my phone, it shows connected but won't pull any data. No sure if the WiFi is even collected, I assume it is the icon that looks like a tie fighter was green but is now grey.

I'm concerned with the lack of attention fitbit team is providing to the syncing issues. I have gone through those "recommended steps" in attempt to connect to android 8.0, windows 10, iOS, and macOS. If I was able to get it to sync, it would only be on the initial linking. And as a developer, I've been updated to the new firmware, 27.30.3.2, which was supposed help with the syncing issues. When I see others having zero issues with syncing, I start to think it is a problem with my Ionic hardware. Hours spent with support and hours spent scouring the forums for more info, can we get any update?

27.30.3.2, I'm on 27.25.16.7, that was the version it downloaded when I first connected the device up.

That is the firmware I started with at first. But once I registered as a developer, it was updated to the dev firmware.

Just an update - I was able to resolve the desktop application syncing issue. My AT&T router broadcasts both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz. Once I disabled the 5.0GHz, the syncing started to work. It seemed that most of my devices are on 5.0, which causes an issue since the Ionic only works on 2.4.
However, it still will not sync through my phone.

I just had the same issue as most of you on my brand new Ionic. Tried to sync it for 2 hours to no avail and I tried all the usual tricks, rebooting the Bluetooth, restarting the device, the whole nine yards. Finally, I got it to sync.
What worked for me was going into my Bluetooth settings on my phone and telling it to "forget" my Ionic on my Bluetooth. Then, I repaired the device to my phone and it worked! Try that and tell me if that works.

@DramaQueenDiva Thanks for the tip. I removed other Bluetooth devices and unpaired and paired the Ionic and I had my first sync in 2 hours.
I have had no issues with syncing for months, even the first couple of weeks with the Ionic. Along comes App 2.60 then 2.60.1 and my syncing issues started. I lost 9% of my phone battery trying today and I don't have all-day sync set. Just once connected. Now I'm waiting for the prompt to update to 2.61. It was just blue circling all the time with no errors. I have 100% bars on my 4Gx phone connection.

@Colinm39 Hey man!
2.60 broke my bluetooth connection as well. Waiting for 2.61. Someone in another thread got that version a day or 2 ago, but it is not yet available to me. Syncing via the desktop Windows 10 app is also spotty. This all started for me last Thursday just after I updated the app. Hope it gets resolved soon.
Good seeing ya!

@shipo@SunsetRunnerYes... Thanks for both of you confirming my issues.. When I get 2.61 I will post again. Shades of a couple of years ago...
I'm finding it does 1/2 an update and it would be excellent to know the sequencing.. ie Goes to phone, then web, then back again etc. Sleep is always delayed as is GPS tracking..
As I type a perfect phone sync rapidly.. as it should and with me is the Android phone, Fitbit One, Ionic and the Windows 7 PC. That what makes it confusing.. Last night an accelerated battery flattening 2 hour spasmodic attempt to sync. Even Fitbit Connect failed. So I will keep anm eye on the phone issue..

- I already have 2.61 running on my phone; not sure when it was pushed out.
- I've noticed when you have more than one device to synch to (i.e. phone and computer), one can lock the other out. Case in point, I just synched with my phone, it is a virtual certainty if I now try and synch with my laptop it will fail. If I take my phone out of Bluetooth range (or otherwise break the connection to my phone), then the laptop will synch.

I have just had Fitbit Connect sync my One and the Ionic within seconds of each other.. So it may fall into @shipo about the phone interfering.
My phone is somewhere in the house and now I have to ring it to find it.. So it's definitely a few metres away and probably in sleep mode.
Last night Fitbit Connect just refused so find the Fitbits while the phone was next to the keyboard.
At the time of typing, the step counts were, One, 9830 steps and the Ionic 9196 steps, and all of this included some shopping with a basket and bags in my arms. I'm happy with that when I add the estimate for shopping. When I shop with a trolley I always lose about 1,100 steps... A long shop....
So, in finishing this the Fitbit Connect cannot find the Fitbits and I haven't moved and the phone is still where its hiding...
One last go and they both synced...... within 1 minute of each other....

@SunsetRunner, does your PC have in-built Bluetooth?
FWIW, I am synching to my Windows 7 laptop via the Bluetooth dongle I got with my Surge.

I have the dongle from a prior tracker installed.

Interesting, that's the exact same environment I'm using, a Windows 7 laptop with my Surge dongle plugged in.
Two questions regarding Fitbit Connect:
11-03-2017 19:07
11-03-2017 19:07
@shipoMixed Fitbit Connect messages for me.. Exactly the same environment as you..
Using Fitbit Connect.....
Thought the probably was solved.. It was off my wrist and wanted the Pin number..Input the Pin That sync worked but no message of an Ionic.
Tried again with it on the charger and needing a pin.. I didn't enter the pin.. That worked immediately. So the issues are random in nature..
While doing these tests I had the Android phone next to the computer.. Some tests with the phone off and others with it switched on. No difference.. Not once did it come up with the failure message to ensure other Fitbit tracks aren't around. Yesterday it was hard on Failure not finding Fitbits.
Finally.. This morning I updated to App 2.61 and restarted the phone.. Now attempted syncing on the Android
No changes to the syncing issues... The initial message was ..."Looking" for a while, then syncing, then error. I kept trying, and after 6 minutes we synced, Battery went down 6%. I made sure all my emails were current and there was nothing obvious running in the background. My 4G signal strength was 100%.
As I post, I'm trying to sync again on the phone.... Took the Dongle out of the Computer... Ionic on my wrist... Now up to another 6 minutes and no result.. Battery on phone is diminishing 1%/minute. I have walked across the lounge room to show some new activity.. Now at 8 minutes and Sync Error....
Shades of months ago with my other trackers.... So I went outside, away from the total home environment... No WiFi or PoE (Power over Ethernet) , etc... No difference... still not syncing..
Back inside and restarted the Ionic..... Immediate Sync....... and then again.. Immediate.. and Dashboard on PC showed 43 seconds ago.. and previous 1 minute ago..
At least I know I can sync eventually.. But something has fouled the works up since App V2.59.. or is i the restart on the Ionic.. because I have just done 3 perfect sync's from the phone over 3 minutes and each one reflected the time difference on the PC Dashboard.. AND... with the dongle in the PC..
So with this long post I will now keep checking and my Ionic I admit hasn't been restarted for a couple of weeks.. Maybe it took me that long to find where to shutdown on the Ionic..

Two questions regarding Fitbit Connect:
- When you click on "Check for device update", do you get the "Your Fitbit tracker is already up to date!" message?
- When you click on the "Sync Now" button, does the screen stop on "Searching for Fitbit Tracker", or does it continue on to "Syncing your Fitbit Ionic" (or "Syncing your Fitbit tracker", I routinely see both)?
- If you make it to the "Syncing your Fitbit Ionic" message, is that where it fails or do you ever see the "Sync complete!" message?

@Colinm39, do you still have your Surge on your account, or was the Surge fining spurious?
