Third Ionic died last night

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Last night when I took my Ionic off the charger it started showing the logo for 6 seconds then blank for 1 second then logo, then ..... reset wouldn't change anything, putting it back on the charger made it get warm. So far with the Ionic (since mid 2017) I've experienced water leak (replaced under warranty), screen glitches (replaced under protest since beyond original warranty), now what looks like a software or hardware failure. I have an extended warranty through Amazon/Assurion so this should be fixed but when is fitbit going to acknowledge that the Ionic has serious issues and offer their victims some kind of better unit as a replacement. Three failures in not quite 2 years is pretty horrible.

Hello @txwoody , sorry to hear of your continued problems.  If you can access the Clock Face and the Settings App, I would suggest doing a Shutdown (Go to the About area of the Settings App).  If you are unable to access the Clock Face, try Resetting your Ionic (Press and hold the left and bottom right buttons together, until the Fitbit icon appears, then release).

If the above doesn't work, you may need to do a Factory Reset.  Please let me know if you should need further assistance regarding any of these steps.  Thanks!

Hello @txwoody it's nice to see you around participating in pour Community Forums, same for you @GySgt_Seidell. I'm here to help. My apologies for the delay in responding.

@txwoody Seems odd that your replacement Ionic is experiencing difficulties, thanks for your patience troubleshooting this matter.  First, I'd recommend you to check our help article: Why isn't my battery charging on my Fitbit device? to verify if your Ionic battery is the root cause of your concern. Then, try our factory reset procedure following the next steps:

  1. On the device, hold all three buttons for about 10 to 12 seconds.
  2. When the Fitbit logo disappears, quickly release the bottom right button, continuing to hold down the left and top right buttons (releasing the bottom right button as soon as the logo disappears is time sensitive).
  3. When the device vibrates, release all buttons.
  4. Wait for approximately 1-2 minutes while the device clears all data. Eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays Fitbit.com/setup.
  5. When the device successfully resets, please use the normal out of the box process of updating the firmware. You can check: How do I update my Fitbit device? for more details.

Take in consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.

@GySgt_Seidell Thanks for providing our restart process, your willingness to assist is always appreciated.

I'll be here if you need further assistance. Keep me posted.

Already tried all that, including the factory reset. Didn't change
anything. Just kept flashing the logo. Seems like a boot loop IMHO.

I ask again, when will they admit that Ionic simply has serious problems
and do something for their customers (victims).

Most recent one was in January of this year. It didn't even last 4 months.
I didn't swim with it. Didn't even wear it in the shower. Kind of shocked
when it just decided to go into a boot loop.

my ionic died too..last may 22nd.. i did all the possible things to do but unsuccessful. i sent an email to the customer support advised me to clean the gear and all but still no good. there's no anything in my watch, no logo, no flashing lights at the back of the watch.. got it last nov 2017.. i think it's just literally the end of life of my ionic.. so sad. but i'm still hoping it will be revived. i will let it rest for a while then try to turn it on again on monday.. just hoping fitbit can have unlimited warranty replacement. lol
