Tips to improve the music transfer

After much searching through these fitbit forums and getting the run around from people who clearly have no idea, and do not explain themselves properly i managed to work out how to transfer music without useing the bluetooth dongle for those that dont run windows 10 but older versions of windows and do not have bluetooth built into there PC or Laptop (or a Bluetooth Dongle)

Step 1.

Download the fitbit connect  app  for your Desktop PC for windows and not xp or any other version.

Step 2.

Once the app has installed and you have logged in with your fitbit credentials you need to make sure that your wifi connection on your fitbit ionic is connected to the same network as your Desktop PC once this is established YOU MUST TURN OFF BLUETOOTH ON YOUR PHONE! or the transfer will not work.

Now go back to the desktop App and select music transfer once you have clicked on that, go to your fitbit ionic and open up the music app and click transfer music.Once you have done this each app will connect with each other.

Step 3.

Now on your phone you will see the message END NOW,ignore it as its part of the process and its not meaning for you to end it because you think there is a fault, there is not.

Now looking back at the Desktop app you will see after clicking the music transfer button that it now gives you the option to drag and drop your your music files to create a playlist.Once you have created your playlist all you have to do is hit sync and a taskbar will pop up telling you how long the file transfer will take to your fitbit ionic.Once this has finished go back to your fitbit ionics music app and now click the button END NOW and hey presto your music files are there to play at your hearts content.

Take my advice, don't bother trying to download or listen to music on the Ionic.  It does a lot of great things, but as a music player it is absolutely worthless.  I have been trying everything for more than a year and it does not work. If you somehow manage to get music onto your Ionic, even with Bose Soundsport ear buds the bluetooth connection with the watch when playing music is terrible and fragmented.  My blood pressure rises every time i try, again, to use the Ionic to listen to music when walking or running, and trying to get it to work delays my exercise and defeats the very purpose for which I am trying to exercise - to relax and improve my mental and physical health.  Overall, i really do like my Ionic.  I just cannot waste any more of my time trying to get music to play on it.  I'm done.  I give up.

Hi Steve.....
I have been trying to get the elusive Music function working for over 3 months...
Thanks for going to the trouble of writing your instructions. But. I'm stuck on step 1.

Does step 1 mean-
-Regardless of what version of windows you are using, only download the fitbit connect app.
-(Do not download or use the xp version. Do not use any other version of the FitBit app).

Thanks for your reply Steve.

It is a really-really ridiculously convoluted and difficult process to get music onto this thing (the fitBit Ionic).

I believe it is all "Apples" fault !

You see - if you use an Apple iPhone you're not allowed to do anything actually useful with it - just make phone calls and run Apple approved Apps (while looking uber fashionable). But you're not allowed to access, transfer, store or modify files on it - Oh no, Apple don't want anyone to 'tinker' with their devices. Fair enough. No more random ranting about how technically beautiful but practically useless Apple devices are.... But it leads me to speculate - Why can't the FitBit App on my phone just sync the music stored on my phone?.... I should be able to just transfer music to the SD card in my phone and then build a playlist in the FitBit 'music' app on my phone. And simply sync it from there.

The Android & Windows FitBit phone App should be allowed to access music stored on those types of phones and transfer it to the IONIC without the need for a computer. This three-way thing is no good !...  If Apple won't let their users have full functionality on their phones - then that's their fashion choice. My FitBit just wants a nice simple monogamous one-on-one relationship with my phone.

FitBit ! - Please upgrade the Android & Windows FitBit Phone App to allow it to 'sync' music to the Ionic right from the phone app.

Stop hamstringing the rest of us just because you can't put this feature on the iPhone version of the FitBit app !!!
