Most of my running is on a treadmill - usually daily and almost always the same time and pace. My Ionic is calculating the correct number of steps (within an acceptable margin of error) but distance recorded is off markedly from the distance recorded on the treadmill. Treadmill - 10.2km, Ionic - 8.63km. Step count 10,197. I set my stride length based on outdoor runs done over the past couple of years and found it pretty accurate with the Blaze and Surge. I have tried increasing my stride length in settings to address the distance under count but this hasn't worked (For example, today I set the stride length to 1.07cm - this should have recorded a distance travelled of 10.91km but the Ionic under counted the distance by over 2km - a 20+% margin of error is not acceptable). I would appreciate any suggestions on what I could do to address this problem.
Regards, Andy

I have heard that the Ionic (and other trackers as well) has to calibrate itself using data collected from outdoor runs before it is 100% accurate. I saw another post that had the same issue, then the OP took a couple runs outside with GPS, and the next time they ran on a treadmill everything was correct.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will give it a try and report back.

I can confirm this, but only going by what I'm seeing on my ionic
In general I go out for walks, due to my poor health, and usually walk around 4-6 miles per day, and take my time when walking. I normally do 18-20 min per mile, and find that when I go to the gym, my pace usually matches my walks out side, and maybe I'm 0.05 miles out, so would say, you need to do a few runs to calibrate your ionic
