Here is a new one. I just did a sync and upon the next time I checked my watch I got a message saying unlock from phone which really means to do a factory reset.
i would say mildly interesting except for the fact I am on my way to work.
Guess I am using my blaze today.

It sounds like the Ionic device lock setting was enabled and the PIN was entered incorrectly too many times. Try the "HOW DO I UNLOCK MY FITBIT WATCH WITH MY PHONE?" section of this link: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2250#unlock
