If you go to https://www.twitter.com/FitbitDev you can see some apps in development. If you're worried about the lack of apps, don't. The app gallery will be stocked soon with some fun, cool, and downright weird apps.

Some interesting concepts. It would seem we are in safe hands regarding devs and creativity, looks to be quite a bit of Pebble DNA shining through. Smiley Very Happy
