Hi All,
I want to buy a newer fitbit and can't decide between the Versa and the Ionic. The reviews I've read are mixed on both. If you have either watch, do you like it? Dislike it? Why?

I have both so I can give you my opinion of both which may help. When I got my Ionic it was love at first sight and in fact I still love it. The only problem I have had with it is that as a small woman with a very small wrist it looked BIG. Suprisingly (to me) it didnt look overwhelming and was so comfortable to wear that it didnt FEEL big.
Then the Versa came out and though I still love my Ionic, I love my Versa more! Simply because of the size - it just looks more feminine and a much better fit for my wrist. Function has been great (as is the Ionic) - I have had no real problems with either. The built in GPS of the Ionic is superior to the GPS using a phone of the Versa, but that isnt something I use so it dosnt bother me in the least, but would be a consideration if you like to use that.
So basically as far as I am concerned, bothe are great, both work really well and do the same job. But if you want GPS go for the Ionic. If you are small wristed, go for the Versa.

@SunsetRunner I own only Ionic ( and old Charge 2, but it's somewhere in the box in the attic ) and I don't think I will own any other Fitbit device again. My Ionic got damaged under the shower ( although I admit, it survived several swims in the pool ), HR isn't just inaccurate, it's just rubbish. Since FW3.0 I have problems with syncing. My strap broke as well. All within 8 months. GPS is accurate enough but I the way Fitbit tries to "correct errors" in the Run exercise brings actually more errors when computing distance and pace ( lots of complaints here about that ). The issue of crashing Exercise app isn't solved yet ( probably will never be ). Occasionally, Exercise crashes during tracking and I lose all the progress. In most of the cases it happens a few minutes into the workout and if I managed to feel short vibration I can restart tracking but lately, I don't even care. Anything good? I like the design and I am a rather short person ( who knows, I may be even shorter than @NellyG, wouldn't be strange in my case 😉 ) and I don't find it too big for me. The display is really nice ( or rather was, before got damaged by water ). I like auto brightness which is a feature I usually turn off in every device. In Ionic works great, especially if I want to check the time at night.
If you go for any of these two devices, it may be reasonable to wait with the purchase until next FW update is released as the new device will force you to update to 3.0 and this one seems to be bringing lots of issues including occassional bricking devices. I'm really hoping Fitbit will recover from that soon releasing a new version of FW.

Thank you Jsr. Do you know when they will be releasing the new version?

@SunsetRunner nobody knows. The communication between developers and users is pretty much non-existent ( mostly because Fitbit doesn't want it to exist ) and nobody knows anything.

Got mine in December as a gift............Ionic.... big, uncomfortable, HR works only sometimes and yesterday gave me 52 stair climbs when I only did 9 and today none at all and I have done 12 After reading posts on here it cannot be used for swimming as it seems just a shower will ruin it. I have never had a fitbit last a year without fault and fitbit don't care given they are only a data gathering and for profit company.

My advice is stay away from the sinking ship that is Fitbit.
Quality on all new devices is sup par (ionic should of outright been recalled) and the company is way too silent about both hardware and software, unless you want to hear the I do not know scripted answers from the mods around here.
I know myself and many many many others are just waiting for their 2nd or 3rd replacement devices to die before jumping ship.
Do not get yourself wrapped up in this crap especially at the premium price of these devices.
