Fitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.
The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.
This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.
If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

I have got my Fitbit ionic refund to google play. However, I cannot transfer the amount to my bank account, and it remains restricted to purchasing items only on Google Play.
Is there a way to request Fitbit to switch the payment to Paypal, or is there a way to transfer the money to a bank account from Google Play itself that I do not know?

My refund email looks legit but the email is fitbitionicrecall@myglobaloptions.com. is this correct? Google has negative reviews for myglobaloptions so just want to be 100% sure.
does it go on to your own mastercard or do they send a prepaid?
cheers

Could you activate my watch? I don't want to return it. I've been waiting for about a month without an hour. I have never seen such an incompetent company. no code is sent for payment or anything else. If you can't manage these things, you shouldn't be doing them. or just deactivate the watch of the people you pay for. You both leave us without a watch and steal our time so that they can reach you

PaulAvo, Fitbit did set a limit on the number of devices and bands that could be ordered at a discount, that limit is five. If Fitbit does not have sufficient stock to fill the orders they are getting, that's a Fitbit problem, not a problem with the customers who are ordering what Fitbit offered.

Ionic refund issues. I have contacted Fitbit over a month ago regarding ionic recall. Registered successfully and received email that I will receive return kit within 5 days. After 10 days contacted support wow chat and they assured me I will get it within 10 days since they are busy. After additional 2 weeks contacted via chat and was told I need to call support experts. After calling experts I was told I have to call different number. Still no luck contacting anyone because they just closed. Anyone else had an issue with the refund/ recall?

Pisia, if you look back through the threads of this topic, many people have had or are having issues with the recall program. My return kit did not arrive in 5 business days, I called the Ionic recall support phone number on March 14, got my return kit on March 16. It's unclear whether my call lead to the arrival of the return kit, or if it would have arrived on that same day if I had not called. The number I called can be found at https://www.fitbitionic.expertinquiry.com/contact-us

@Brimson same with me, man! I'm from India and I registered on Mar 4, where after completion the form said that the watch will disable syncing and you'll get a confirmation mail. But, since then I didn't receive a single mail from them and that is why I'm confused that I would be getting the refund or not.

Have others experienced this and it turned out to be part of the process or do I need to reach out to UPS or Sedgwick? It’s been 7 days so I’m not sure what to think. Trying to stay positive.

So went to but my new fitbit after receiving my refund for the ionic and only get the choice of 3 different devices and when I tried to get a second accessory band it said I had reach my limit even though the email for the discount code states "up to 5 free accessory bands-1 for each device you order". I had 2 versa's in my cart but could only get 1 band. What's that all about, I did notice when visit the store via the email it does say only 1 accessory. Is there 2 different offers going on or what?

Hi Support,
I'm still waiting for my credit, I purchased my new Sense on my credit card expecting to apply the credit from the recall, but I have not gotten my credit back yet.
How can we check the status and get an expected date of credit?
James

Reg Ionic recall/refund: I was able to register easily and I have received confirmation as well as the discount codes. However, the site and instructions say that the return kit would be sent to me within 5 days. It has been 1 month and counting. I have called the provided phone number 3 times, but the assistant was minimally helpful. I still have no return kit. The device has to be returned to and received by FitBit in order for the refund to be processed, which they say could take up to 6 weeks. The discount codes are only good for 90 days and can be used to access the site only once. Clearly the delay is intentionally built into the process in hopes that we will buy a new device at a discount before the refund is sent, in my case, to my PayPal account. I’m hoping to purchase a new device and get the discount, but I’m also hoping to use the refund to to do so and not spend my own money first, only to hope and wish for the refund to show up. The customer service rep had no idea when I would receive my return kit (box?). Has anyone actually successfully completed the entire process by returning the device AND getting the refund before purchasing a new device?

Yes! I have FINALLY received my Only 1 Visa gift card and have registered it online. I have confirmed I have the correct balance but my payment won't go through on the Fitbit website. I called the Visa contact number but there is no option to speak to someone until you sit and listen to the same useless prompts over and over probably about 5 times before it offers to let you talk to someone. Then the message said they had no one available and that they'll call me back. We'll see if that happens.... Googling the Visa gift card is full of furious customers saying they've been scammed. So I'm not at all confident at this point that this hasn't been a total stitch up.
