Wearing Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit One

I wear an Ionic and a Fitbit One when I cycle or spin.  I like the Ionic for heartrate and recording my cycling activity, but the One to record my steps.  I have not been able to figure out which device take precedence upon syncing.  At times, the steps from my One sync and then override my Ionic steps (preferred), at other times it is reversed where my steps from my Ionic override my One.  I thought that if I took off my Ionic and left it in another room, then sync'd my One, then my One steps would count.  But sync'ing at times just reduces my One steps to match what was last sync'd on the Ionic.  Other times the One will override the Ionic.  Consistency please!

@SniffNY Welcome back to the Fitbit Community. I'll be happy to clarify your inquiry.

Thank you for letting me know what you're experiencing with your Ionic and Fitbit One. If two devices are paired to one Fitbit account, it's recommended to switch between devices, this to ensure that steps don't get override.

  • Wear a smaller device for all-day step counting and a larger device for workouts.
  • Switch between a discreet, clip-based tracker and a convenient, wrist-based device.
  • Use MobileTrack if you forget your Fitbit device at home.
  • Switch between any devices you like. Your account can have one of each device model and MobileTrack.

If you wear your trackers at different times, your data will be combined once both sync. For example, if the tracker you wore to the office counted 8000 steps and the tracker you wore during your evening run counted 9000, the total number of steps on your dashboard is 17,000.

I'll be around if you have any additional questions.
