Why does my Ionic spontaneously lock?

For no reason (that I can see) my ionic will spontaneously lock, causing me to miss my hourly step reminders. How do I keep it from doing this?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @GwynnyIf you set up Fitbit Pay to make contactless payments from your watch, the device lock is turned on automatically and you’re prompted to set a code. If you choose not to use Fitbit Pay, the PIN code is optional.

For more information on how to use Fitbit Pay, see What should I know about Fitbit Pay?

You must enter your PIN code at least once a day. Your watch prompts you to enter your PIN code based on your device lock setting:

  • Enabled: Each time you put your watch on your wrist.
  • Enabled for Fitbit Pay: First time you make a payment after your put your watch back on your wrist.

Note that your card issuer may require you to re-enter your PIN code to authorize a payment.

To change the device lock setting:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon > your device image.
  2. Tap or click Device Lock.
  3. Tap or click to change your device lock setting.
  4. Find the option to change your PIN code in case you want to reset or change the PIN code.

Hope this clarifies your inquiry, I'll be around if you need further assistance!

The password may be setup to lock all the watch, but the time, or just lock just Fitbit pay .

In either case the pin code needs to be put in once every 24 hours and after the watch has been removed from the arm .I've noticed that, way more than I expect .the watch thinks it has been removed from the arm, when it has not been .This is why your being asked to enter the pin.
