Wrist band durability

Wrist band broke at the joint, causing the watch to fall off. Luckily I noticed when it happened, otherwise I would have lost it!  This occurred without an impact, which reflects poorly on the quality of the hinge.  Has this been a known problem?

I haven't seen many posts with this problem but a quick search finds a few.

The band and attachment will covered by your warranty which runs for 12 months from purchase (or 24 months if you are in Europe) so I would contact customer support via contact.fitbit.com to see what your options are.

@SteveHIt happened to me 2 days ago.but a different issue.

After 5 months.. But I caused it, because the width of the band had stretched at the corner where the right hand button is. Probably less than a mm, but enough to be caught on the edge of a shopping trolley while putting groceries in, the probability of that happened was so remote but it happened..

I don't do running, swimming or heavy stuff just walking and domestics and I wasn't concerned about the stretching.. Just  wear and tear for me..

The band didn't release but 1/2 of it was adrift from the connection.. and I couldn't risk more of it coming adrift..

I had a new band from the Fitbit Australian online orders in 1.5 days to my door this morning with express delivery..

What a disappointment, I have had strap issues with every single iteration of FitBit device I have had since December of 2014. It is such a novel idea the challenges and gameification functionality that FitBit offers since there are so many users but I find it so tough to be loyal to them knowing that their devices do not last. I currently have a Surge (discontinued) that I have already after-market replaced the strap on twice and now no longer charge it without a cleaning of the charging posts and wedging something between the connection and band to hold it at just the right angle. I was interested in upgrading to the Ionic with hopes that this device doesn't have the same strap woes that others have had and unfortunately stumbled on this post. Thanks for sharing!

I contacted customer support with an issue with my watch which has a 24 month warranty...........customer support was appalling.............all they kept saying was theres no end date to a fix with the app, the issue was the watch. From buying cars to houses to tv's and all other consumer goods, ive never experienced such poor shoddy customer services

Same here Lybby, I've had two surges fall apart due to the bands and Fitbit recommend I upgrade to an Iconic and it appears there are issues with this band too. I have a five quid ordinary watch that has bands that wear out so I buy a new one, they've never disconneted. I'd expect expensive tech to be more efficient than a cheap watch not less.

Yep exactly Linzbfc, it is almost like they are taunting us into jumping
ship to Garmin, Suunto or Polar 😞 I understand it is a fitness tracker
but I expect watch durability too.
