brand new ionic wont charge

just got it today, popped it on charge and it flashed a red 0% on the screen, but that's the last I've seen it display. I assumed I wasn't charging it properly, so I changed to the socket, then a different socket, back to the computer but a different USB port, left it on charge for hours. Nothing. I've read all the instructions online, pressed the back and bottom right button together a number of times for a really long time, but nothing.

I can feel there's a charge when the fitbit is connected to the cable, because the metal bits that the strap connect to give a slight buzz to touch.

have a I got a duff one? Or am i missing something really obvious?

Had my ionic for 6 months now, put it on charge the other day as it was out of battery and its not functioning whatsoever. Dont even get the 0% on the screen to say it detects the charger cable. Have tried different wall plugs, tried charging from Macbook but nothing. Carried out the reset method but that doesnt seem to work either. Would it be the cable??

It had been without charge for a few days before i attempted to recharge it, surely this wouldnt cause anything?? Any suggestions would be welcome, not a cheap product when you can only get 6months use out of it.
