compatability with Moto Z2 play

Completely disappointed that my new Fitbit Ionic won't sync to my new (4 months old) phone Moto Z2 play. If know I wouldn't have purchased the Ionic.

This should be stated BOLDLY that Fitbit Ionic is not compatible with certain phones. You have to do a lot of digging before finding this out!!!

I have been so excited to get the Ionic due to many friends have it and love it!!

Again completely bummed 😞 especially after spending $300

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @bakrgrl! I'm so sorry to hear that your mobile device is not yet included in the Supported Devices list. The developer team is aware of the need to add new devices to the list of compatible devices. There are some users who can synchronize with non-compatible devices. If your phone meets the requirement of Minimum Supported OS (Android 4.4 KitKat), you can try the tips on the following help article: Synchronization troubleshoot, set up troubleshoot or even notifications troubleshoot

Note that we don't guarantee that the synchronization would be will be successful as we are still testing on this phone model.

If setup does not work, I recommend setting up and syncing via a device listed as supported or using a Windows 10/Mac computer with integrated Bluetooth 4.0 running the Fitbit Software.

But... if you want, we can try some steps that have worked for my sister. She owns a Huawei which is not yet a supported device, but she has tried the following (which I think won't hurt if you try that as well) and she made it:

1. Your phone must not be set to "visible for other devices"
2. Your phone must not be "searching for other devices"

If either of these two things are active, the Fitbit cannot connect.

In other words, you have to set it to invisible, and you have to click the stop button if it is searching for devices. So, Bluetooth should be on, but not doing anything at all in the Bluetooth menu. Then force quit the Fitbit app and it'll sync. At least it has done with my sister's phone for over a month or so.

Give this a shot, I'm crossing my fingers! Woman Wink

I was upset that I had no other option but to return my new Fitbit Ionic to the store, since it was not comparable, and would not sync with my Motorola Moto Z2 androiid smart phone.  The store representative that sold it to me told me that I would have no problem syncing it,. Well, he was totally WRONG.  He also told me that the Ionic was comparable with my Plantronic bluetooth device, and that I could play Pandora and receive music through it.  Again, he was WRONG.  I'm not one to tolerate incompetence well.  Fitbit needs to list ALL incompatible devices on their products, and educate the individuals that are selling them to the public.  Just say'n !

I have a Charge 2 on my Unlocked Moto Z2 play and currently been testing an Ionic and a Fenix.

All three are syncing in real time, Gmail, text, calendar and call notification work.

On Ionic I have have filled up my music from the Windows 10 app on a wired ethernet connection.

I was going to send the Ionic back or get rid but it's set up and working better than I dreamt.

What problems did you have? It couldn't find it?

Yes, the Fitbit Ionic watch couldn't find my Moto Z2. The store clerk also tried, but it didn't work for him either. My Fitbit Charge 2 works wonderfully with my cell phone.

Follow the advice from the second post. The phone finds the Fitbit but it does it manually. When set up is complete you can change the setting back to whatever. I just update manually simply to save battery.

The only official Moto supported phones are really old ones but there is no reason any of them should not work, I have a g4 plus and a 2014 X both work fine, as should most Android phones KitKat and later.

They don't mark them as compatible because they haven't sat down and set them up.

It's the phone manufacturers changing defaults that causes problems.

There's no reason any Moto with its untouched and lean software and compatible Bluetooth should have any problems at all. I can't for other phones but maybe you should try the phones support as Fitbit can't really test every phone that's out there, they come out too fast.
