I have an Ionic, I jog Mon/Wed/Fri. Same run same roads every time, I get 6500 for the run. I eat breakfast then got to work. Before I head out the door to got to work my fitbit reads 14,000 steps 12.5 km which I know I haven't even come close. This is very frustrating considering how much I pay for the watch

Where is your device sitting when you are getting ready for work?
Is the Fitbit near a vibration source like a fan, dehumidifier, or even a computer CPU? It can see the vibration as steps and add false steps.
You can enter a driving record to get rid of them

I’ve had the same problem in two 2 days my ionic has added around 6000 steps to my record it is so annoying and for the money shouldn’t be doing it. And it has not been near any devices that would make it happen

A warm welcome to the Community @xLeafsfanx and @sarahweighalot. It's pretty weird that your Ionic is counting steps when you haven't worn it and that you've confirmed that there isn't any fan or anything that might vibrate and give you more steps. In this case, I've shared your post with our Support team and they will continue assisting you on this matter.
Thanks for your help on this thread @WendyB!
Hope this helps!

I ran 3.7 miles this morning and the app shows that the run was 5,643 steps and 3.7 miles. On the dashboard it shows total of 8.6 miles and 14,058 steps. That’s just not possible.
I can confirm that when I looked at the dashboard before the run, I was at just a couple hundred steps as I was basically just out of bed.

last few jogs it did this to me, I jog Mon Wed Fri and at 12:10 am of those mornings it add 6000 steps and 5.5km. I just went to my exercise history and deleted the exercise and its back to where I should be for the day

I would do that, but there isn’t a second exercise posted. I did the run, ended the exercise on the Ionic and then started a new Weights exercise that was 25 minutes long and shows 818 steps. Both of those exercises posted correctly. No other exercise sections are listed so I’ve got nothing to delete. I just remember turning on the Fitbit app when leaving the gym and the steps all of sudden shot up and the fireworks went off on the screen for hitting my step target. Crazy!

I know this isn't your fault, but fitbit said they would replace my ionic which they did (with a refurbished one, and Im so not impressed with that.) but I get the new one and get it setup and the very next day after my jog which is average 6,500 steps my watch vibrates and its at 12,500, my watch doubled in steps in 45 min and its showing that just after midnight while Im sleeping and not wearing my watch

Hi yes I was given another Ionic although I am not sure if I got a refurbished one. I hope and trust that it was new! I set it up and the next day when I did my run it happened again, so I don't think it can be the Ionic itself, I am now convinced that the app could be the issue although after the initial phantom run it hasn't done it since but still keeping an eye on it.

Too funny. I'm watching my steps count on my Ionic while typing this. Heck I'm now up to 65,300, 301, 302...been at work all day at my desk.
Now the serious part. I e-mailed support prior to leaving for work and no feedback. I wish I could get my money back but I doubt they'll honor it. Disappointment is too nice of a word that I'm thinking right now.
