I have been a fitbit user for nearly 4 years with no real issues.
I have had my Ionic for about 2 years
a week ago my heart rate zones changed dramatically.
Until now I have gone into the 'fat burn' zone at 85 BPM.. This has now gone up to 106 BPM.. consequently my 'active mins per week have dropped from about 50-60 hours to about 10 hours per week.
I am on the latest firmware, and no there are no health conditions that would impact on this.
basically it now shows me doing nothing unless i am in the gym or on my bike. My last 4 years of data is meaningless and I cant gauge how active I have been from the data. I have tried resetting the ionic, switching phone on/off, and logging out of Fitbit, but nothing works.
I have tried to custom set my heart rate on the web version but that doesnt change it on the app on my phone. I have tried getting customer support from Fitbit but its easier to get an audience with the pope than any support from them, can anyone on here suggest anything? thanks Pete

The recent software update included a change from Active Minutes to Active Zone minutes and with this a change to the way heart rate zones are calculated. The old way was based just on our age, but the new heart rate zones also take into account our resting heart rate which is intended to make our zones tailored to our fitness level.
What many of us has found is that it makes the new heart rate zones harder to reach. At the moment there doesn't seem to be any indication that Fitbit view this as an error.
There are a couple of help files that may help to understand the changes:

Steve,
Thanks for the reply.
This makes sense and was what i suspected.
I am surprised that the system doesnt allow you to custom your own. ( I have tried doing this online but when I go back to my app it doesnt show, same with Max heart rate which keeps reverting to auto rather than custom.
However if it is correct then thats ok with me I will just have to work harder to achieve higher active mins.
If I am interpreting it correctly, it suggests that my heart health is fitter than the normal 220 - your age formula.. so thats somewhat reassuring.
I dont understand why neither of the two fitbit staff i was message chatting could tell me this.
Anyway your help is much appreciated.
Cheers
Pete
