ionic won’t connect to my phone

My watch stopped syncing with the app and getting text/call notifications last week so I tried to unconnect my ionic and then reconnect it to the Fitbit app but I only ever get to “connecting to tracker” and nothing ever happens past that. I have tried deleting and redownloading the app, signing out and back in and forgetting the device on my iPhones Bluetooth but nothing has worked. What can I do to connect my watch back up?

I am having the same issue. My Fitbit Ionic will not connect to the Fitbit App. My Fitbit App will not allow me to sign in or to reset the password. I am able to sign in online.

I have an iPhone X running IOS 13.2.2

I have uninstalled/reinstalled the app twice, I have shut the watch completely off and restarted. I have followed all the instructions I am able to find. This only started occurring in the last week.

The Ionic works on its own, but does not communicate with the app and now I am unable to sign in on the app.

Unfortunately based on the other entries on this forum this has been an ongoing issue for many users and the standard instructions provided do not seem to be working. Was there a recent update of firmware on the Ionic that is causing these issues? Why is there a disconnect in communication with the Ionic and Fitbit app? Is this only an IOS issue or does the same problems occur on the Android side as well?

Any assistance would be appreciated so I can use the equipment to it's full potential and not just a decent watch with a few extras. Thank you.

I have a Google pixel 2 and the error started to occur out of no where. I was able to fix it a handful of times with hard resting the watch. I can't recall the last time there was an update for this watch. I do know they recently released the ionic 2 and just guessing here maybe they stopped updating the ionic due to that. Unfortunately the watch it's pretty much useless if you want to look at anything or into more specific data. From everyone that has had this issue it seems there is no recovery for the watch.

Wish I had words of wisdom to help you. Unfortunately I think you need a new device. I had tried multiple times to reset, reconnect through the app and my tracker but to no avail. I followed the directions to the letter. I’m not sure why these types of problems keep happening but they are often and widespread with multiple versions.

My Ionic started doing this last week as well. Will not sync.  I try a reset and when I enter the 4 digit code all it says is Connecting to Fitbit... until it times out.

I just talked to Fitbit chat support.  They had me factory hard reset my Ionic (go to settings on watch and tap About and select Reset).  I went back through the setup and all seems fine for now.  Except that I lost about a week's worth of data 😞

Hope that helps.

I did factory resets all the time. Eventually it stops working to connect it and fix the problem.

I also was told to do this, but it didn't help in my case.  Glad it worked for you though.

I had the same symptoms but was able to solve the problem.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S10, Fitbit Ionic and Aria. One day, all of a sudden, by Fitbit would not sync anymore. I should mention that I also got the notification for a software update.

Nothing seemed to work. Sync said "can't find device" installing the update found my Ionic but then could not connect and failed (WiFi and Bluetooth).

Here is what I did:

I have removed the Ionic from my account and restarted my phone (probably not necessary). Then I have uninstalled the fitbit app from my phone and again restarted my phone (again, maybe not necessary). I then unpaired the bluetooth connection of the Ionic with my phone and again restarted my phone. Finally I reset (not factory reset) my Ionic.

After all that, I started as if I got the Ionic fresh out of the box. Installed the app, linked Bluetooth, activated WiFi, the app automatically installed the latest firmware and voila, everything was fine and I didn't lose any data.

It's been over 10 days now and the problem didn't occur again.

Good luck to you all.

I have similar sync issue.  I found a  simple solution: connect your Ionic to your charger.  Then it will sync.

Is your charger connected to your computer? If not, try to connect to your computer. It works for mine.

How embarrassing for Fit Bit.

went through all steps suggested. Spent about 3 hours and NOTHING works.

now the only thing my FitBit Ionic can be used for is garbage. What ever you do, do not to a factory reset. It will make your Fitbit useless.

What a piece of **ahem** product.

Friends and family on FB and any media I am hooked up to will learn the **ahem** experience with FitBit.

I couldn’t say it better! Mine is a pile of expensive crap! Now I got
kicked off of Fitbit cause I don’t have the premium package! Since Google
bought them, things got worse!

Update: I still can’t get it to work as designed, but I found that if I plug the power in and out several times I can get the data to sync. It still says “No Device Found”. Waiting for my Apple Watch to arrive.

Try this in your iPhone:

Open Settings app → General → Reset → Reset Network Settings.

it worked for me.

Also try to press the left button and top right button simultaneously for 5 seconds when the app is searching during setup. It worked for me twice so far.

I recently got a new phone and now I cannot get my Ionic to sync. I have tried everything on the list and my phone will not discover my Ionic.  What am I to do?

Try to put your Ionic on charger. Then it will be found.
