I downloaded the latest version of the mac app and I am desperately trying to connect the ionic to my mac.
So far no way.
I use the same wifi, disconnected all the BT and WiFi from other devices, opened iTunes, opened the app and clicked on transfer music both in the ionic and in the mac app but NOTHING.
The mac does not see the ionic in any way.
Is that even possible??

You have to use Fitbit Connect to connect to Ionic, Not iTunes!
When you press Transfer Music on the Ionic it will be visible on the Wifinetwork.
Fitbit Connect (manage your music button) will search for the watch. In a while it will find the watch and ask you to select playlist!
I use MacBook Pro

I am NOT using iTunes. I am using the fitbit connect application for mac.
I EVEN tried to open iTunes thinking that would have been the trick.

Did you stopped transfer on the ionic and start it again after 5 seconds or so.
I guess the Ionic en Macbook are on the same Wifi? Just to be sure.
It looks like some handshaking trouble, so one of the parts must start again or both.
You can see on are phone app what the actual status is of wifi on the Ionic, even change it!

Same WiFi networks. I tried restarting both, I tried uninstalling and installing the fitbit connect app again. I am now trying to restart the ionic. But it's really buggy

Yesterday I saw the same thing when I was using public network in a restaurant. As soon as I arrived home it worked 'magically' right away. I remember reading somewhere that some WiFi networks are not supported. Maybe it's the case? Is your WiFi network secured (with a password) or without?

There seems to be a support article about WiFi problems.

How can a simple process as having music in one device be so difficult??

It seems that I too now have problem connecting to WiFi 😞
I went for a run and after that, when I came home I wasn't able to connect to my iPhone anymore (via Bluetooth) and WiFi wasn't showing also. Did factory reset to Ionic and now when connecting watch to iPhone I'm stuck at the "WiFi Setup" step.
Maybe the latest firmware is to blame ... dunno. Anyway. I have restarted both phone and watch and nothing helps. Guess I have to call the support 😛

Phew... the WiFi support article worked for me. Although WiFi Setup step still didn't show any networks... I force closed the Fitbit app on iPhone. When I opened Fitbit app again it was already paired with watch and asked me to finish WiFi Setup step (or to use Bluetooth to update software). WiFi Setup step now showed all available networks. updateing firmware now.
Remark: couldn't add music on Apple Watch too... did everything by-the-book ... nothing. It seems to be most challenging task in Information Technology industry when you want to "download" music and not stream it 😉

If it's any consolation, it took many tries to get it work. Honestly I have no idea how it started working. I restarted the device a couple of times and quit the fitbit connect app a few times as well. It decided to work at some point, but I'm not sure what triggered it. . Not a very efficient mechanism at all to say the least.

This morning, I noticed that my music had not completely synced and I really didn't want to go through the fiasco of trying to get the thing to connect again.
One thing I did do - on my router - I set the IP address of the Ionic to a static address.
In the fitbit connect app on your Mac, there is a settings icon in the upper right corner (visible when it's trying to connect). In that area, there is an Advanced Settings item. There, it will give you the option to connect directly to the IP address of the Ionic. Otherwise, I think what happens is the connect software never finds the device (and the About page in the Ionic settings will say WiFi not connected).
I believe this is what I did the last time to get it working. Forgot about this step because it was so frustrating.
I do believe there is a big flaw with this app for the Mac users. Hoping that it can be corrected in the next update.

I really don't know why or how. I just did exactly the same passages, but today... IT WORKED! I now have my music synced.
I hope I'll not have to do it again 😄
