Hi, @stanf, it probably doesn't happen, no matter what the help desk says.
Sync problems occur occasionally with phones that are fully supported, so I am guessing you are just having a glitch and it will be back syncing again soon. Don't worry; your Ionic will store about a week of detailed data and about 30 days of basic data (like steps) so a few days not syncing is annoying, but not disastrous.
When my Fitbits won't sync the first thing I do is make sure other Bluetooth devices are well out of the way (as they can interfere with each other). Then the first thing I do is give the Fitbit a restart and immediately try to force a sync.
If that doesn't work, toggle Bluetooth off on your phone, wait a few minutes, then turn it on again, and try to force a sync.
If that doesn't work, turn the phone off altogether, wait a moment, turn on again, and then try to force a sync.
If that doesn't work, try setting your Fitbit up as a replacement device. Do NOT remove your Fitbit from your account first (or at any time when you are trying to solve a sync problem, as that can create many more issues). If the replacement is successful it will have the same effect as deleting and setting up from scratch without any of the downsides.
If none of this works you could try deleting your app and redownloading it.
If your Fitbit still won't sync after that, pour your favourite drink and toast Fitbit and your addiction that has caused you to do all this! Then enjoy your drink, do something else, and have another go next time you have the mental energy.
I would bet you can get your Fitbit buddy back syncing again with your trusty old phone.
