My old charge 3 calculated flights of stairs .   Why doesn’t Luxe?

The Luxe does not have an altimeter so it cannot count stair flights.  In that, and perhaps other respects, It more more like the Inspire family than the Charge family of trackers.

And since it is without that hardware piece, stairs could not be added in the future via firmware update.

Confusing because the setup prompts you to set flights of stairs goal and shows like it should track progress but then it just stays at zero.

Hi there, @BethAnz @Tracy1288. Welcome to the Community Forums.

As @JohnnyRow has mentioned, please note that  floors aren’t tracked on Luxe or any Inspire series devices. Although it is designed without floor feature, your device can track as many activities as other Fitbit devices does. For more information about your Fitbit Luxe, you can click this link: Fitbit Luxe User Manual.

Have a nice day.

I had been given aLuxe to ‘upgrade’ from a charge 2 - and bitterly disappointed to find tracking floors (that I thought was a basic feature) is no longer available to me any more.   If I had known this I would have declined receiving a Luxe - as I feel this is a step backward.  Really poor too that I had to go searching to find why floors was not working, when they were still available in the app - and advising how they are tracked.

@Dana63  My impression was that Luxe was marketed more as a fashionably stylish watch, rather than necessarily a features upgrade.  But that was just how I saw it.

It is still poor that a fundamental feature is missed out - especially when they have added so many more functions!  I can now see when I  stressed out at not having the floors tracked!!

it is not easy looking through marketing info as to what is included or not.   For example it tracks calories but I have not seen this specified anywhere.  No need to reply I just wanted to vent my frustration and annoyance!

Fitbit stopping including altimeters around 2013/2015. This used to be a feature of the original baseline models. Similar to their other products, released in 2017 and beyond, Fitbit has increased advertising and data collection while cutting hardware costs and attempts to convince users they should pay a monthly subscription for diet and exercise literature.

Very disappointing, especially as google owns fitbit company now. I would return your Fitbit hardware and look at competitors’ options instead.

I find it shocking that it doesn't count floors!! Surely that makes the Luxe not fit for purpose!?!

Have they added this basic feature now??

@EllenOB   I'm sorry, but the Luxe model hasn't changed.  The features are still the same as when it was released.

Such a shame as I really want one, do you think they will add it soon?

Best Answer

@EllenOB this is impossible as the Luxe lacks the necessary hardware.

The same for me. I was given a new Fitbit (straps have broken on 2 previous Charge 4 Fitbits) for Christmas by my husband, who did no research before buying the Luxe.

I am just getting around to checking out all the features post Christmas. I am extremely disappointed in the fact that it doesn't track floors!

I live in a house with 3 sets of stairs, a multi-level yard and a volunteer site with stairs. All of this  gives me a great workout. On a good day of working inside and out, I can log 20 to 30 floors. Not bad for an old lady that is 70 and weighs 97 pounds.

I would give the Luxe back, if it wouldn't upset my husband. The strap, also, makes my arm turn red and itches.

My last broken strapped Charge 4 I carried in my pocket. I may switch back to it.
