How does Fitbit Luxe track calories burned?

Hi everyone I just started using a fitbit luxe and I’m a bit confused on how it tracks calories burned? For example last night I was cleaning the kitchen from some time roughly (i know for sure it was after 12 but before 1) and it said i had burned 47. I took it off to go to sleep and put it on, it says i’ve burned 527 calories.

That includes your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) calorie burn that you are always burning just to stay alive, breathing, heart pumping, etc. Fitbit credits these even when you are not wearing watch.  Normally these account for more than half of daily calorie burn.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
