To this day I’ve never been able to figure out why they ditched the multi-stat face that was available on the Charge 2 or what vendetta their product management team has against reading time linearly. My best guess on the stats is that pulling all the data at once is too processor intensive and they’re optimizing for battery life, but it’s 2023. Driverless cars are terrorizing San Francisco and my iPhone can identify a succulent at 50 meters. Surely there’s one brave engineer at Google who has the power to show me my heart rate, step count, and distance traveled at the same time.
I’ve considered applying for a job at Fitbit just to reach the UI team and ask them why they insist on creating only interfaces that are difficult to read and require tap tap tapping to see metrics that could fit on one screen, but my gut tells me the colorful illegible chaos is on purpose, esoteric as that purpose may be - no self-respecting designer could look at these options and believe they’ve created the best possible user experience.
That being said, there is no sleeker fitness tracker out there, and so I continue to wear the Luxe. Good job hardware team! Sorry your software counterparts have chosen violence!
