SmartTrack is recognizing the wrong activities on my Luxe

I hate this new device. It makes up its own mind what I’m doing, often in one minute increments. Sometimes it “autorecognizes” correctly, other times it decides I’m swimming when I’m hiking.  Turned on the app on the phone full time, but that didn’t help. Today I deliberately “started” a walking track, but it ended before I told it to, made up additional little increments, and cheated me of over a mile (as tracked on my husband’s Fitbit). I  going to return it and go back to a Charge.

@kfrase Thanks for stopping by in the Community Forums and sharing the details about the issue with your Luxe. We‘re taking into consideration your comments and sentiments in regards to our products and services.

Please try restarting your Fitbit Luxe and try one more time to use SmartTrack to see how it does this time.

Also, keep mind that the default duration settings of your Fitbit Luxe is 15 minutes long. However, you can also choose which activities your device tracks automatically, or change the amount of time needed to record the activity. To do so, please follow the next steps:

  1. Tap the Today tab , then tap the Exercise tile.
  2. Tap the gear icon in the top right.
  3. Tap an exercise, and adjust the duration or turn off Auto-recognize.

You can learn more about the SmartTrack feature in this link How do I track my activity with my Fitbit device?

Hope that helps.

I experienced this as well. My device said I was biking when I was actually practicing my violin. Not sure how those got mixed up 😛

Hello @ColorGuardNerd and welcome to the Community.  If you are the color guard nerd, then I am the science nerd.  I have looked at raw accelerometer data.  The accelerometer collects the data and SmartTrack analyzes it for patterns.  In short, it sees what it sees.  You can set SmartTrack to ignore biking and this is how you do it:

  • Tap on your profile picture
  • Scroll down to Activity & Wellness
  • Tap on Exercise
  • Tap on Outdoor Bike and move the toggle to Ignore
