30 lbs by 30!! Who's In??

I'm new to FitBit, (been logging for under a week and have already lost 2lbs!). I'm currently 29 years old and at 5'6 and 160, I'm hoping to loose 30lbs by my 30th Birthday in October, weighing in at 130 (just seemed like perfect symmetry 🙂

I'm hoping to find supporters, challengers and motivators who are on a similar journey. You don't have to be 29 to join 🙂

What's your goal? Will you join me?

It is perfect symmetry, but in my opinion you are setting yourself up for failure. It takes about a 3,500 deficit to lose a pound. To lose 30 pounds in the about 75 days remaining, you would have to eat 1,400 calories a day less than you consume. If you try that, you will likely feel miserable.

Pesonally, I like to lose weight with a 500 calorie daily deficit while not going below my base metabolism. This means I have to walk about 7 miles a day. I can steadily lose four pounds a month without any hunger except for normal hunger just before meals.

My only exercise is walking, and I've found the Fitbit Zip quite accurate in estimating calories consumed.

Good luck to you whatever you decide.

I've been consuming 1000 calories less than I burn a day (this what FitBit estimated for me), which has me eating 1800 calories. My job, as a woodworker and furniture maker has me very active. It's easy for me to put in 12,000 steps just at work. Throw in a 30 min run and I'm golden. Caloric intake has been under and I feel great. The biggest struggle for me is not eating total garbage because I'm tired from work. That's really what I need the FitBit and the FitBit community for.

I find that with monitoring my sleep (making sure I get my full 8 hours) and eating whole foods (where once I ate processed crap), I have so much more energy. If I don't hit my goal, it's ok. I'm not obsessed with the numbers. I'm choosing to remain positive.

I also think you might be setting yourself up for failure.

The problem is, you just arent that fat.

Its not an impossible goal, but its going to be a challenge.

In the last two months I've lost 15 pounds, I'm not going to lose 30 in the next four.

The fatter you are the easier it is.

I'm 168 now, my target for November 14th (when I'm 31) is 140

I'm also 5'6, but I'm a dude.

You are in the ball park, and I wont say its impossible, but its going to be difficult.

If you want an accountabilabuddy I'm happy to help, we fdo have pretty similar goals
