Additional Motivation Needed!!!

Since Septemeber 2014, I have lost roughly 50lbs. I am not knocking that accomplishment because I am very proud of myself for doing it. However, since May 2015, I have hit this plateau. I will gain and lose the same 5lbs over and over again.

I have increased my steps per day and usually hit my 10,000 steps. Some days it is almost 20,000. While I might cheat on my diet every once in a while, I have been staying in my range of 1200-1300 calaries per day. I even tried Nutrisystem for 3 months but that didn't help me loose either.

Any changes or suggestions for me? I am trying to lose another 50lbs, though I technically have another 70lbs to go before reaching my final goal. Thanks for reading!

Are you eating 1200-1300 calories every day, or are you following what the Fitbit recommends and varying the amount of calories according to your activity level?

The whole point of wearing the Fitbit and logging food is so you can vary your intake to match your activity level.  Otherwise you end up with too large of a deficit some days and too small (or an overage) other days.

Set your plan to around a 750-1000 calorie deficit, then actually eat how many calories it says.

Have variety in your workouts! 😄 The body will get used to the one or two workouts it does regularly and may cause a plateau. Adding something new kinda gives the body a wake-up call and increases your calorie burn and may target new muscles. The most effective combination of workout styles in cardio, strength training, and flexibility. Yoga is fantastic bc it can hit all of these. It gets the heart rate up, it improves your strength (physical and mental), and it feels wonderful to get stretching. Also, zumba or Blogilates on Youtube. Good luck and you can do it!

Hey there @EG2 ! Welcome to the Fitbit Family, I'm sure you'll find plenty of members who are on the same path as yours. Cat Very Happy

As a personal recommendation, follow your food plan as a guide and make sure you write down your meals as soon as you are about to get them; this will prevent the moment where you are holding your food log and remembering how much you ate and underestimating amounts. I have a tiny notebook where I write down the meals and their weight, so when I'm ready to write them down, they are accurate.

Get a food scale and measure everything. Increase your water intake and find different sources or variations for the meals you love that won't take a hit on your caloric budget.

Have a rest day! Enjoy your food and don't miss out on the opportunity to eat different.

Good luck!
