Any College Students on here?

I am 22 years old and in college and I am looking for friends to add.  You don't have to be a college student or young to add me.  Just wondering if anyone can relate to having a difficult major (mine is chemistry) and trying to lose weight.  It's not easy with all of the sitting and studying I have to do.  I am hoping to lose weight over the summer but I worry that I will just gain it back when I come back to school.  Any tip?

Hi! I'm majoring in biology but I'm actually not taking any classes right now. I just moved to another state and waiting to hear from the local community college about financial aid. I'm also hoping to lose weight before getting back into classes.

I think one of the really important things would be to make sure that you eat for your activity level. If you're spending more time sitting and studying, you won't be moving as much and shouldn't be eating as much as if you were exercising regularly. Study breaks would be a good way to get in just a few minutes of exercise, just walk around where ever you are studying for 5-10 minutes for every hour or two of studying. That will at least get you moving a bit and add up throughout the day.

I do plenty of eating when I have to study, so I just make a huge bowl of popcorn and enjoy them Smiley Wink

Also, stretch and go for a small walk! That can clear up your head and help you focus Smiley Happy

Hey! I'm a nursing major currently in limbo between two colleges, one that might get me into the program early and one that I already have been going to for a year that just now let me know I won't get in early because of classes. Smiley Mad I totally feel your pain! I'm always at a desk studying. The only tip I can give is that only study for 30 mins or so and then get up and go do something for 10 mins. I like to set a goal for myself by picking a good place to stop studying/working and then plan something fun I can do once I reach that point. I've been recently active at my college gym (going every week-day for the past semester) but haven't really seen results past the 5th week of working out. FB definitely helped me put my eating habits into prospective! I also agree with bringing the studying to the gym with you. Nothing like jumping on the treadmill and just walking with your notes in front of you or maybe even the bike. 🙂 Good luck! Don't stress out too much!

I have to admit I get dizzy if I read while moving Cat Sad, but I have found the audible version of most books I wish (or have) to read ; so I press play and walk! Cat Very Happy

hi, i might be too late for this post, but I am just starting and I am a freshman in college, a bio major. I understand exactly what you said about sitting all day and hardly having time for other stuff like weight loss anyway, I would also really need the support so I hope other college students like you can be there with me to push me to fulfill my goals.

I'm 23, in 4th year at university doing a dual degree; a BA in French litterature, minoring in Russian, combined with a BSc in archaeology. They aren't particularily difficult majors, but they are reading intensive, so I understand the habiit of, say eating a loaf of bread to stay awake while studying late into the night. I actually did lose weight once before but put most of it back on once back in uni.
